A landmark fixture for me as it is the only home game I have attended since I left Hull 60 years ago. Match was in 2010 when Hull came back from 6-26 in the second half to win in the last minute 27-26 and complete a league double over Saints for the first time in 20 years. Playing for Hull was a young lad called Danny Houghton who more than matched his more illustrious rival Keiron Cunningham.
Roby played loose forward that night and was laid out for a couple of minutes or so when he got in the way of an O'Meley run.

Was a really memorable match and I went with several family members. My sister informs me they will all be there again for me on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the fixture. Disappointed that it won't be televised.

If Ellis had kicked the penalty and Rovers received the ball back in the 2nd half there’s half a chance we may have lost
Up to 60mins we were bang average
Saints don’t usually wobble in the last 20 against a team that are average for the first 60

So how do we beat them ?

Change the first 60 that’s for sure

However winning breeds confidence and thank goodness we won !!
It sets a mindset that can spread across a team

The 9 day break will certainly help

So let’s use the Gladiator line

“ at my signal unleash hell” but from minute 1

I have lost interest

Ifs, buts and maybes. If livetts try wasn't given, if we didnt piggy back them up the field they wouldnt have scored as many etc etc.

You could see we hadn't had as much time on the training field and we looked a little leggy. Yet when we decided to to go up a gear, we were to much for kr.

Against a saints side that have just been embarrassed, we are going to have to be on it for the full game. With a hard fought win against kr a good result at Leeds and a longer turn around, I think we will see a.much better FC team on sunday against saints. Think it will be a tight game, but one I'm.confident we can win.

Without Satae for 3 matches, was a dumb challenge, but think 3 games is a bit harsh.

My team for Saints would be

Shaul
Swift
Fonua
Carlos
Ratu
Connor
Sneyd
Taylor
Houghton
Sao
Jones
Griffin
Fash

Savelio
Bowden
Lane
Johnstone

I expected a ban but 3 games is really harsh. If they have decided that they are going to a bit tougher this year then fair enough (I thought Hill's ban was on the harsh side too) but we will see how consistent they are as the season goes on.

Faraimo back in for me. With Satae not there his strong carries will be important.

Shaul
Faraimo
Fonua
Tuimavave
Naulago
Connor
Sneyd
Taylor
Houghton
Sao
Jones
Griffin
Savelio

Bowden
Fash (I'd go with Brown but I don't think Radford will)
Johnstone
Lane

Houghton to play quite a long spell at loose allowing Savelio to go into the front row rotation.

I'd have thought Matongo would have been in with a shout.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?
