I agree Uppo58, but it works both ways, this guy has made these accusations, and in the influential occupation he is in, this situation should be clarified, I watched the Calendar report of the game by Arif.
No mention of this incident as yet, can he supply the proof please to the relevant authority.
It does tend to be the younger element. Most people now have mobile phones, just video or photo the idiots and report them to the club or police.
Just to add, as a Wigan supporter. Last year we went to Aus to watch the Wigan v Hull game in Woolongong and then onto Sydney. In the Steelers club pre and post match, both sets of fans drank a lot (and I mean a lot) had a good sing without any trouble whatsoever. In Sydney we all met up for another session on Darling Harbour, again no trouble just good banter.
The Steelers Club said that it was their record EVER bar takings.
And finally we had one lone Hull supporter on our trip Michael Bram, what a gent, a pleasure to be in his company.
So it's up to us to weed out these idiots who are giving our clubs and our game really bad publicity.

Thank you Rogues, lovely post
But this allegation has been made by a “journalist” the same guy has also accused a Halifax supporter of similar comments.
Perhaps he has submitted his evidence to the authorities, I hope so.
Hope plenty of Wigan fans are coming on Thursday, you are all very welcome.

As you can probably guess I'm experienced (a grumpy old bugger), been retired over 10 years. Always enjoyed our visits to Hull, we used to go into Raynors, Star and Garter? on Hessle Road and St. Andrews Social Club. To say we met some "characters" in there would be an understatement lol but never any trouble.
Can't make it on Thursday as I've just had an op on my hand and can't drive and my sons working. We were going to come over had it been Saturday as scheduled!!

Just because he has no tangible evidence it does not mean it did not happen. Unless the verbal evidence has been recorded or winesses come forward what do you expect this guy to do.
The fact he has made the claim and made it public, based on the balance of probability means it probably has happened.
You being defensive or protective with your various and varying "can he provide evidence" claims does not help.

Raynors is (was) on Hessle Road. I remember a Star and Garter behind the old bus station near the old Spring Street Theatre. Great pub.
OT, It will take more than stadium bans to stop some folk. not really sure how a stadium ban is enforced to be honest. Its not as if every steward is going to remember the face of every banned fan.
As has been mentioned, if you get caught lobbing stuff in any direction within a crowded areas, you are endangering many and the threat of a custodial would hopefully make a few think twice.
There were a fair few bottles thrown on to the pitch Street the last Warrington try. I was up in the touchline stand and saw it just rain with pint pots and bottles (including one idiot who ran the length of the stand to throw his from a closer point). Worst I've seen fit years unfortunately from us. It was an embarrassment and I hope the club ban them.
As for "who cares what the press think", I reckon our sponsors and any future potential sponsors care. And fans who want to go to games without fear of drunken idiots showering them or getting hit by a bottle, or bring racially abused.
It's not everyone. It's not even a majority. But one is too many and if we don't look like we're stamping it out then we look like we're accepting it and the problem will grow.
