Think he played a blinder with his squad and team selections over the weekend. Managed to rest people, trust the youngsters, wrong-foot Smith and still have a decent squad in reserve for Friday. Bit of a gamble, but a calculated one for sure, and the players have paid him back in spades.
Well done, Radford.

I think we've seen in these Easter Monday games the value of fresh legs, which by the final quarter can be worth more than senior but knackered ones.

Totally agree. What's the point in having a strong squad if you aren't going to utilise them at the most criticised period in the season!

Things are looking and feeling brighter.
My view was always to see where we were after Easter Monday. Fifth in the league, certainly feels like an improvement, however on like for like fixtures, our points tally is the same on last season - one which most felt was unacceptable.
The next few games gives us the chance to convert our potential into points and then we will see a tangible improvement in our true league position for this season.
Widnes aside, performances look better than last season. We seem to be learning how to win the narrow games, 2/4 this season v 2/7 last season and ultimately its converting narrow margins like that which could determine 4-5 league positions come the end of the season.
I was worried during the Widnes game (Lee's half time body language) and the players meeting afterwards, that Lee had lost the dressing room, but that's now looking more like a blip and hopefully a turning point.
Lee's certainly earned the right to continue until the end of the season. However, we've achieved nothing yet and therefore we shouldn't be rushing into hastily arranged contract extensions - we've done that before and regretted it. Lee's safely protected with his current contract and there's nonone likely to be headhunting him any time soon.
We are only ever two defeats from a crisis on this forum, but hopefully we are also just a few wins from achieving the improvement that was probably promised following Gentle's sacking.
I wish Lee well and think he finally showing signs of becoming a good coach. With regards to a contract extension, I think it clearly needs to come down to Top 6 or bust for Lee.
We've now got the squad to achieve the Top 6 and feel we now have every chance of achieving.

I doubt any other clubs will be after him so there is no need to rush things.
Absolutely, and what's more, IF we achieve a top 4/5 position and, or have a good dig at the C.C. Then we become a more attractive proposition for any of the better qualified coaches who may want to take on the challenge of taking us on the next step.

Too soon. Great win versus Warrington, but still less than three weeks since the Widnes defeat and I can't imagine many Hull fans who would have backed an extension that night.
I'd hold off talks until July at the earliest. Our final league position should trigger an extension, not eight matches of inconsistent performances, preceded with a season of disappointment.

Because no other club would move for him after the anti-tampering deadline in May...

I don't believe anyone else would move for him.
Even if e.g. Leeds or Huddersfield sacked their coaches they would want a replacement straight away and not at the end of the season. They would probably look for someone with a better track record than Radford, as could we if he left.
At the moment we have 5 wins out of 8. I think we are going OK but that could change over the next few weeks so why risk tying us to Radford for another 2-3 years?
