I really wish he'd stop making statements like "We don't feel any squad is better than what we've got next year with the investments in recruitment we have made, to add to the squad we already have and the young players coming through." As it always comes back to bite him/us
We've made some good signings next year, but it's a big jump to state that the squad is better than the likes of Wigan, Saints, Leeds and Hudds who have topped the table for years, and Catalan and Wire are having a major shake up of their squads too. Best squad we've had since he took over the club would be a better description IMO

I think the 2017 city of culture comment is a lazy copout from the club as well we should be working with the 2017 bid team to draw sponsors in not fearing it. Saints, Wire and Widnes all got sponsorship out of Liverpool when they won it. Also why aren't we approaching Siemens and the related companies that will come with it? Hull hasn't had this much invstment in decades!

Good that he's coming back in to steer the ship through stormy waters. The Academy merger appears to be a big mistake and extra effort will be needed to overcome the fallout. But sponsorship was reducing way before that was ever announced - as the economy picks up and local investment follows it it's vital that the club is out there in force getting a slice. Hopefully Pearson himself is the best man to achieve that.

You can't really compare Liverpool's European City of Culture with Hull's UK City of Culture. What were the deals Saints, Wire and Widnes got, I must admit they have slipped my mind? "We haven't approached Siemens" - you seem to know a lot about what the club isn't doing.
Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

UllFC has unfortunately turned into one of those 'supporters', who'll happily have a pop at the club at every opportunity. It's even got to the point where they're creating comparisons which either aren't comparable (E.g. Liverpool's ECOC, vs Hull's UKCOC), or simply making things up (E.g. Hull haven't approached Siemens), to give themselves more negative ammo to fire at FC. Bumpy is the master of it.
UllFC used to come across fairly well too.

agree doom and gloom, nobody on here knows the ins and outs but the merger does look iffy to say the least, the squad next year does look good though and imo we can challenge for 4/5 which is another step up the ladder, I feel Wembley in my blood to COYH
once a black and white always a black and white COYH
I do wish we would stop making statements about the fact that next season will see us with the best squad in Super league its so 2013 when the fans know that it simply isn't true. It's a good one and dare I say an exciting prospect, but hardly better on paper or otherwise than Wigan, Leeds and Saints. And even if it was on paper I'd keep quite because we still have to get them to perform consistently and you have to look back to 2008 or even before then to find that!! I'd rather have a "Buy season tickets or we go bust " type statement because at least we would know where we are and even if we were over a barrel would know what we had to do to make things right!
As for the merger stuff here's an interesting piece from our Coach who at a time when the Club will be trying to convince us of what a great idea gifting rovers or best under 15 players our facilities at Bishop Burton and most of our coaching staff is, seems to be extolling the current set up and how well it is doing at producing stars!

The more I hear about this Academy and the more people within the local game I speak to, the more it baffles me from your point of view. Rovers are actively releasing our top end Academy players and replacing them with players who have come through other Super League clubs Academy's. Minns and Shaw are already in plus I gather there is another kid coming on loan from Leeds. Robinson has gone. Guzdek is going. Esslement has gone. Hallet is going I believe.
It appears to me that Rovers are banking on using Hulls staff and facilities and hoping that the new Academy produces that many players that we are handed some by default with minimum cost and effort to ourselves.
Just my opinion, buts it's the way I see things at the minute. I'll go and watch them play just as I have gone to watch Rovers and Hulls academy's this season but I think I'll be keeping a closer eye on manoeuvrings off the field than on it...
