Sorry but being a Wakey fan Washbrook wouldn't get a gig in any other super league side (aside from yours according to rumours). The previous three seasons he has been average/poor and has only shone this year because others around him have been even worse. Saints, Leeds, Wigan, Wire, Hudds wouldn't bend over backwards trying to sign even if he is cheap. I don't imagine Leigh or Bradford would want him. If you want to compete with the likes of Leeds and Wigan for silverware, signing players like Danny Washbrook are not the answer.
But by all means, I wouldn't object to you guys signing him.

Washy is being brought in as a squad player, not an integral 1st team player.
The reasoning I believe, is that our youngsters are not yet physically ready to handle regular 1st team duties.
Example:IF Westerman copped a lengthy absence, I doubt IF Abdull could play 20+ SL games - next season.

The idea of price not being a major factor in a salary cap sport is ridiculous.
I disagree. Not that the likes of Wigan or Saints (or Leeds, either) would have a player of Washbrook's quality, but that they'd bring them in from outside at his age. All squads need solid players to round them out, but what the top sides tend to do is keep hold of such players fairly long-term from their academy rather than recruit. Outside recruitment tends to be higher quality players or players with more years and potential ahead of them.
FWIW, I'm not against bringing back Washbrook as a squad player on an ability basis, I just question the need for another backrower if we supposedly have someone else coming in, unless someone (or two) is leaving.

You sure?
Saw him play a major part in a couple of tries the other week putting his winger over with great handling and timing of the pass.

Fair points.
We seem well stocked in the back row, and if it's as a backup hooker, I'd rather we signed McShane.
Wigan, Saints and Leeds are certainly the benchmarks. Hopefully in time as our new youth structures have been running a while, we'll be able to do that too, playing catch up at the moment.
