Widnes are no mugs and the game is eminently losable.

Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm
It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One

From what I heard on the radio it was no fluke and despite the injury list those players who took the field dug deep and ground out a win.

On the radio commentary it said we conned Saints into conceding the penalty at the end as Rankin stood back as if setting himself up for a drop goal and the Saints defenders rushed forward and were caught offside.

We could do with more smart thinking like that.

First there was wisdom
Then there was knowledge
Now there is only information

whether it was by accident or design the policy of playing smaller more mobile players (cunningham, howard etc.) against the big tired forwards of saints certainly paid off, and it was one of our small guys who scored the winning try. give radford some credit for these tactics, even if the team might have picked itself today due to injuries.

The referee's indecision is final

Definitely not a fluke, if a couple of things we tried had come off it could have been far more comfortable. We should have been up at the break really and there was some really smart play around the ruck (which was Radford's plan though I doubt he'll get the credit).
Whoever plays next to Talanoa needs to get him on a lead, he's always running in off the line.
Westerman & Naughton outstanding and pleased to see Shaul get a couple, his second being particularly good.

Saints fans acknowledging that we would have won comfortably had it not been for massive displays from Walmsley and Roby.

Roby was brilliant, always makes the right decision.

Who was it Walmsley just smashed out the way the play before Turner scored?

Was a very good win and fairly decent performance. Westerman was up for it from the 1st minute and gave the opposition problems all day long because he promoted the ball - there was a definite change of tactic there. That is the westerman i was hoping to see when we signed him!

Their pack was much bigger than ours, Walmsley was unplayable at times for them. There was an occasion when we packed down in the 2nd half, when you just didnt recognise any first team forwards bar Westy. Hadley gone after 10 mins, Mini was injured in back play, Howarth was in there with Feka and Cunningham - they still had Walmsley, Masoe, Roby, LMS, Amos, Richards - thats some effort.

Naughton was excellent on debut, be unlucky to lose his spot. If Yeamo fit should come in for Talanoa who again was a total liability at times, exposes players around him every time, has ridiculous brain farts, gave the pen away that led to their 1st try and then was also offside from the re-start. Was culpable in costing us the game at Cas and did some ridiculous stuff in the derby too. He worries me.

So, no fluke, when you consider the advantage they had up front, we managed to stay in the game and then had enough class in Westy and Pryce to see us home.
