Let's be honest, it's going to be a gamble whoever we appoint given the state we're in. I know not everyone was convinced Tony Smith was going to lead us to success but I doubt many of us foresaw him being as disastrous as he was considering his experience.
For me, it's not just about the head coach but what the club provides them resource wise. Hodgson had a few handicaps thrown at him by us when he joined such as limited cap space, not being able to bring in his own staff etc. We'll never know for sure if he would have been better if he'd been able to do more in those areas. It sounds like whoever comes in for us now is going to have cap space to work with and the club is planning backroom additions so I am hoping we give them an environment to flourish in.
