I was as excited as everyone else was about signing Fonua but I can honestly say I’d be happy swapping him for another Mark o Meley or a Scott Taylor. Some people will not agree with that given Fonuas quality but we won’t go anywhere fast next season without a pack to rival the top 2.
Obviously there may be more signings to come but we’d better hope we’re getting all of Sao, Satae and Ma’u cos we’re going to need it considering we’re losing Westy and Green
Absolutely agree. If signing Fonua means we have missed out on signing a top forward then I'd be disappointed. As we saw against Cas the other week for example, we got out muscled in the middle yet it was our backs who saw us through - imagine what our backs could do if they had a good platform from some big blokes in the middle. I was fearing the worst when they brought on Watts and JSL & we brought on Brad Fash & Washbrook. Really hope we pull it out of the bag and sign some lumps to throw in the forwards.
Numbers wise in the prop department is fine , we have plenty . It’s quality were lacking , if Bowden Taylor or the new prop got a long term injury, I think we’d struggle next season in most games , especially against the better teams .

I think there's 3 camps.
1. Opposition fans that are envious of our recruitment so want to point out a deficiency that isn't there. These fans support teams that on paper will almost certainly have a worse pack than ours next season
2. Our own fans that opposed the Fonua signing and are just desperate to give their argument some credibility
3. The rest of us that are pretty optimistic about the team next season, and excited about the 3 forwards coming in and complimenting a superb set of backs.

Camp number three for me, just wish they’d put us out of our misery
Supporters that are optimistic but realistic at the same time, and enjoying THIS SEASON and not worrying stupidly about next season, the aim being to score invisible points against posters that only surfaced recently?
