I completely agree but we've lost 12, gained 7 and integrated youngsters. The player turnover has been there, enough not to have the malaise there any longer.
Unfortunately for Tony his time should come to an end.
He wouldn't get another SL coaching gig after us.
Time to give a young hungry coach a go.
Peters has improved HKR
Wellens Peet and Burgess are all young relatively new coaches too and have their teams playing good rugby albeit with considerable riches but still they have structure and desire and their players play for them.
Agree with bombed out, the player turnover during the off season and it being so early in to this season I doubt its player power or downing tools. I honestly just think it’s down to a lack of direction/instruction from the head coach and his side kick.
I am now of the opinion that either the game has past Smith by, he is now of an age where he no longer has the fight/stomach to get stuck in to the task at hand, is too laid back and wants to be everyone’s friend as opposed to laying the law down of all of the above.
The players whilst culpable and shoulder some of the responsibility for yesterday they simply do not look as though they have had much training or instructed/coached with clear structures imbedded in to the training program.
As for fitness it’s just another season were it looks like it’s a feature that has not been focused on.
Watching London today whilst they aren’t a great side by any means at least they look like they have some idea and organised plan they are playing too, as for us it’s just a disorganised rabble.
That is down to a failure in the coaching set up.
