It needs to be done sooner rather than later. Can't have this for another 4-6 weeks. We may as well start the recruitment process now

definitely see your point. But it's just groundhog day again. It seems at Hull if the players don't like the coach sulk don't play and hey presto he's gone.

Something has to give though.
It's not like we've seen any improvement on the pitch though and unfortunately and ultimately the coaching team is culpable.
I was so optimistic when Smith took over but that good grace has now dissipated.

Your right. But it boils my p.iss when it seems that players decide if don't like the bloke let's get rid. Say they don't like the next coach then what ?. Just wish someone would come in tear the ucking team apart and rebuild. It's the same old same old

I completely agree but we've lost 12, gained 7 and integrated youngsters. The player turnover has been there, enough not to have the malaise there any longer.

Unfortunately for Tony his time should come to an end.
He wouldn't get another SL coaching gig after us.
Time to give a young hungry coach a go.
Peters has improved HKR
Wellens Peet and Burgess are all young relatively new coaches too and have their teams playing good rugby albeit with considerable riches but still they have structure and desire and their players play for them.

I see ScottyT from Geordie Shore has had a dig on twitter, might be a new low point for the club, hes not actually wrong with his comments either!

"A dinosaur for a coach. Owners got his mate in on recruitment who has the same scouting ability as Stevie Wonder. Clubs a mess; feel for the fans, who are paying their hard-earned money to watch that. Lured into their season tickets under false pretences. Lightyears behind Rovers now, it’s not even close."

I'm happy for a clear out to happen, but we need a proper plan of what we want to recruit next. I was happy to get Smith at the time given his track record, but in hindsight it seems like we just hired him because he was convenient and available. Did we even interview for Hodgson's replacement? Or did we just give him the job as soon as we found out he was interested?

We need to figure out exactly what we want our identity to be, what our playing budget is, and identify the main problems that need to be resolved. Then we need to find someone with the ideas and drive to deliver that. Sacking Smith and hiring someone just for the sake of it isn't going to solve anything. I just don't trust the club to do the work and make the right decision.

Even if there was a recruitment process and other candidates he'd have been odds on to get the job, his track record is very good. But its just not working, I take intk account that the budget isnt high and we've had some bad luck with cards and injuries but expected to see at least some green shoots of promise.

Pearson's record of hiring coaches isnt great. At City for every Peter Taylor and Phil Brown there was a Molby, Parkinson and Dowie.

Agree with bombed out, the player turnover during the off season and it being so early in to this season I doubt its player power or downing tools. I honestly just think it’s down to a lack of direction/instruction from the head coach and his side kick.

I am now of the opinion that either the game has past Smith by, he is now of an age where he no longer has the fight/stomach to get stuck in to the task at hand, is too laid back and wants to be everyone’s friend as opposed to laying the law down of all of the above.

The players whilst culpable and shoulder some of the responsibility for yesterday they simply do not look as though they have had much training or instructed/coached with clear structures imbedded in to the training program.

As for fitness it’s just another season were it looks like it’s a feature that has not been focused on.

Watching London today whilst they aren’t a great side by any means at least they look like they have some idea and organised plan they are playing too, as for us it’s just a disorganised rabble.

That is down to a failure in the coaching set up.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
