We look lost on the field. We look the worst coached team in SL. Not Lasts fault, tbh more Pearsons for letting Radford continue in his role about two seasons too long
We need a new beginning
I would tend to agree that under Radfords coaching and philosophy have been lacking and set us back and AP should have been much less sentimental and let him go last season.
In terms of Andy Last/Kieron Purtill I think it’s far to early to say one way or the other. They have taken over and faced an almighty challenge that no other coach has or will ever face in terms of what’s happened as soon as he took over.
He took over then had no access to the squad for 3 months to work with them and implement his ideas and make changes. To then face the positive tests the team suffered and witch hunt that ensued which again hampered what they could do. Then add to that that the injuries and fixtures in such short turn around a means he & Purtill have hardly actually had much time or quality time to be able to really get stuck in to making sweeping changes.
It’s very tough and difficult times and with no end in sight from the current covid situation and the perilous state of the sport and it won’t hurt to look at things from another perspective before acting. Even if we’d have had a top class coach come in at the same time as Andy Last took over the reins I’m not sure there’d have been any significant change either due to the same reasons.
He’s proved so far he is a guy prepared to make big decisions and drop players no matter who they are if they are not performing.
