What is there for them to actually take over though? If they were to do it, surely they'd just invite the top 12-14 teams to join a breakaway competition and the rfl would be left with clubs that opposed it/ weren't invited to join

Answered your own question really, can't see them wanting 2 hull teams to be honest, they'll want the catch ment of teams to be up and down the country in major cities wheres theres potential market growth.
Don't agree with this strategy but I'd imagine that's how they'll look at it to grow the game, even though we all know it won't ever grow outside the m62

Seen as though the majority of the NRL sides all come from 1 City, I'm sure they would be fine with 2 well supported teams from Hull

If the NRL do take over the game here, it may boost funds for a 14 team SL, London would more than likely be guaranteed a spot, regardless of how poor their crowds are.
If they insist on trying to put teams up and down the country at the expense of the clubs in the heartlands, then no doubt the majority of the clubs will tell them to do one!

Think we all know any potential Hull merger wouldn’t work. Based at the MKM and you’d just get Hull fans; base it at NCP and you’d get just Rovers. Can’t see either set of fans getting enthused. You’d just lose a chunk of loyal, passionate RL fans in either case.

I can't see V'Landys spending millions on a dead horse league unless there's something in it for the Nrl but we'd have to see what would be in the deal.
