For me this is a Tony Smith appointment of the highest calibre. I have spoken to a few 'Fax fans since back in the day when Dan told us he was coming, and they are genuinely sorry to see him go because as a part time team training only at night he has transformed to a certain extent their playing style and game plan, but improved tremendously their attitude and pride in the club they play for. One fan who used to read the Diary and who hails from Mirfield told me he felt he had brought the team closer to the fans since he has been there. Smithy knows this guy inside out and although there are no guarantees with such appointments, I think with our current restructured backroom staff our club is in good hands. Let's just hope Tony is as good at picking players, as he is his generals.

Excited about Grix coming on board. Done a very solid job at Halifax on tight resources & he came across really well in the HDM article last night. I don't think he'll be a yes man either, he will challenge and put forward his own ideas I'm sure
