After a couple of hours and a few drinks my son went and asked if he could speak to Buck about a request for him to play.Did he know and could he play Old Faithful sung by Gene Autry. Not only did he know it but had recorded it on one of his old albums. After explaining the reason and a brief history of our song,he had'nt a clue about rugby league,or the challenge cup but was keen to please these Brits, visitors to his place. When he and his band were on their next set he promised to sing it for us.When he introduced the song and the reason for it to his audience, they had'nt a clue either, he invited me and my son on stage to sing it with him .By this time the beer had turned us both into singing stars. So we got through singing Old Faithful both crying like little girls and finished off with a " come on you ulla" much to the surprise and bewilderment of everybody but us.We went back a couple of years later only to learn that Buck had passed away.

Over the years many of you have proved to be anything but faithful. Faithful in the good times, yes but not in the bad. I particularly remember your team walking round the ground at the KC clapping empty stands after we had beaten you in the playoffs. It proved to be the last match of the season for you but hardly anyone was there to acknowledge the the efforts of your team over the previous months.
And before you say that crowds drop off at all clubs when they are not doing well, I know that is true but the rest of us do not sing that we are faithful when we are not. In addition some fans leave all grounds early when a defeat is obvious but the extent that this happens at the KC is well known. The Hull FC walk?
Rovers fans are the most passionate and loyal fans in sport. Official. An example of this is when 20k stayed right until the bitter end to witness the 50-0 humiliation at Wembley.
The rumours that the gates were locked were unfounded.
Also who can forgot the thousands who welcomed them back for the home coming ceremony at City Hall. Can someone post a photo?
I truly think that it’s time for the Mods to step in where Keith is concerned. The vast majority of his posts are purely troll bait. This last is pure shoite. ????????
