| Come on, surely you can get 13,500 people in if they all turn up together half an hour before kick off?

| ....10 seconds per person would take nearly 40 hours with 1 turnstile open.
So 80 turnstiles needed to get everyone in, in 30 minutes. (with a wait of up to 30 minutes.)

| I got there relatively early and still had a big queue to get in.
Also didn't use Walton St for the first time this year. It's been a nightmare getting out of there last few games.

Rubbish, I met up with a couple from Rugby outside the stadium last year when there was exactly the same thing being talked. I'd come up from Hertfordshire for a Thursday game and we were at the stadium turnstiles 50mins before kickoff no problem at all. In fact they had being delayed on their journey and normally arrive earlier.
people keep trotting out the same old stuff with little meat to back it up, whilst I'm sure some fans can't get away any earlier than they do this isn't anything to do with why there are queue's right up to kick-off at certain times of year and the resultant nonsense threads thereafter.
The problem as mentioned is a large number of fans all waiting til last minute to get in, this is exacerbated by some who don't quite get the scanning thing correct which wouldn't be a big deal if fans didn't leave it til the last minute to get in.

Earliest I can set off from West Yorkshire due to work commitments is 6.15pm. Therefore the suggestion that I should simply turn up earlier and not comment if there is a queue when Thursday/Friday nights kick off at 7.45 is not necessarily taking context for all into account. Further, we never had these issues prior to automated turnstiles nor are there queues of this length at other grounds. The cynic in me would suggest the Allams have cut costs with an associated negative impact on spectator experience. Whether the latter was their intention or not is questionable.

| LOads of cheap tickets given away with the HDM boosted the crowd, largely with rare visitors who don't get the scanners !! REgulars got it sussed.
What happened to members getting access to cheap tickets first ?

You never been in that huge queue at Wheldon Road, trying to get in the 4 turnstyles made available?
Been wondering about the barcode / scanning entry system. Not sure how much of a cost saving it really is. After the initial cost of installation, there are still plenty of stewards outside to assist. Has this really saved a material amount?
The lack of efficiency at the bar / food stands is another thing which I find mindblowingly slow. The lack of organisation / supervision / general ability of those working results in large queues and slow service. They would sell more if it were made a smoother process. You can go to events with 50k plus people in attendance and be tended to within a matter of a few minutes rather then the 15 or so it takes at the KC.

On the Cas point yes I've queued but not for the length of time sometimes is the case now for home games and prior to automated turnstiles at the KCOM I don't remember the same issues. Also gates at Cas are generally half those we had yesterday. Like you I can't see that the business case was hugely compelling when there are 2 stewards on anyway, incremental savings must be small against presumably a big capital outlay.

| Some of the expected comments here, but they are IMO a bit off
1) Just come earlier.
This isn't an argument. This is passing the blame from the business to the consumer, and when businesses do that then they ultimately don't succeed. Not everyone can get to the ground an hour before kick off. Earliest I could get to West Park was 4:30 as I was travelling from out of town, as do many others.
If you can't cater for customers getting in before the game, people just won't bother coming, because that's the option you're giving them - either come early or don't come at all. And when you put it like the, it's a stupid response, isn't it?
That's not to mention the fact they had events going on outside the ground that people were obviously meant to enjoy. There was always going to be a later walk up!
2) It's people using the scanners' faults.
Again, this is passing the blame. Plan for this. It's an issue. Just because they struggle to use them, doesn't mean we pass blame. Change the system or open more turnstiles.
If the club or the SMC aren't going to do anything about the number of turnstiles, then the least they can do is put some barriers out so people know where to queue. It was bloody insulting to have stewards going by telling people to get off the roads.
Businesses need to cater to the needs of the customers. If a large portion of the customers are trying to get in last minute, then surely if we accommodate these better then they're more likely to come back?!
