The contract extension is deserved. 2 years would have been better, but long term stability at any sporting club cannot be underestimated.
Love the way people say there was so much "deadwood" but finished 6th and cup final
Weve done well but if Gentle has this squad wed be top 2 without a doubt

But thats the point, we wouldn't have this squad. The recruitment over the last 3 years has been pretty good, better than previous regimes. Of the signings gentle made, is it just Thompson and Ellis who are still around?
He was always going to get an extension. 1, 2 or 3 years is largely irrelevant as it's a results based game and if things drop off significantly he'll be sacked anyway. I'm still not convinced he's a great coach and that we've been as good as we should have been under him but he deserves a new contract

We can speculate on what might have been, but we can't say for certain.
I am pleased for Lee. He's taken a lot of stick and I feell at times rightly so. I am a little surprised at the length of the deal. Adam has had his fingers burnt a few times, by having to pay people off. So three years seems a long time in that respect. He clearly though has a lot of faith in Lee.
As Lee said though us fans are an odd lot. Win a couple and we are looking to bring cups home. Lose a few and we are looking to sack the coach. I guess half way through the season and looking to go second tonight he deserves another contract, but 3 years?
I can't shift this feeling I have that I can not give him full credit for what is happening on the pitch at the moment. I guess after years of dross I fully expect the wheels to come off at some point soon. (I clearly don't wish for that, but I think most long standing fans understand my sentiment).
I wish him well and genuinely hope that he leads us to silverware. Cerrtainly this season we look like we are at least capable of mounting a challenge. (we have a very tough few weeks when it could go horribly wrong.) But I simply can't shift this nagging doubt in my head that 3 years is too long.
It will be interesting to see who his backroom staff are as we move forward. Will the same faces be retained or will we look to bring in one or two new faces to freshen things up? Or will the likes of Ellis, Whiting even Yeaman look to move in.

Ridiculous statement - of course there is doubt.
As for Radford - while he undoubtedly deserves a new contract, three years is too long IMO. I'd have been happy with a one year extension, and moderately content with two.

I suppose as Jake says, if Pearson doesn't think Radford is taking us forward he will act.
