This game was an obligation. We didn't want it so early. So since we had to it made sense to pick young and fringe players. Also most of these have 2 months pre season into them. Overseas for example haven't yet so it's about getting them physically to where you want them. Plus to play a game you need to ease off in training for a game prep. At this stage of year in his starting team he probably doesn't want to yet and will drill the players hard as much as poss in the weeks leading up to season. All irrelevant now tho.
