We need a decent ex-halfback coaching things like that. Horne was a terrible ball-handler (apart from the trademark dummy drop off that fooled no-one).

We're getting the basics wrong and that is a concern for me.

Worries me too. It's an issue that's plagued us for quite some time and shows no sign of being fixed any time soon.

The worrying part, is that Adam Pearson thinks Richard Horne may be an option as our attack coach.

Horne's passing speed & technique were too slow, the lobbed pass, instead a flick of the wrist, hampered his international selection - IMO.

For mine,we need someone who has not been associated with this club, since the Agar days, and not just someone who has a birth certificate with a HU postcode.

This article hits the nail on the head too.

Ruck speed: We need to add something in the hooker department to mix it up a bit instead of playing Houghton 80 minutes every week. Azza was the perfect interchange hooker for me. If we can find someone with similar qualities (or play Shaul there as the article suggests) we'll do well. However, based on this season I can see any hooker brought in struggling to get in the team as Radders seems to prefer playing Danny for 80 minutes every game.

Quality centre: Definitely agree that we need a specialised centre instead of utility men. Looking forward to seeing Tuimavave in action but it does worry me that centre is not his preferred position yet we plan to play him there.

Interchange grit: Agree that we lose something when Watts and Paea are off the pitch. I do like Bowden and Green but I don't think they have the same impact as these two. Ellis in at prop would add this grit I think and if we retain Feka another year that would help too.

Addressing the cancer: Our support play (or lack of it), composure and game management certainly need improving if FC as a club want to actually improve and challenge higher up the table. I would also suggest the Jekyll and Hyde nature of our game is still in need of addressing. We sometimes go from one game to the next looking like a completely different team. Was the team that beat Rovers the same team Wigan annihilated a week later?

And the article is right when it suggests the blame must be spread around and not just laid at one person's door.

Mr Kear was the finest technical coach this club had. He would address that sort of thing immediately. He should work with Westerman to get his game improved.

A good post Doc...

The worrying part is not just a backup hooker for Houghton, as far as I know, we havent a hooker in the U19's either.

The Tuimavave signing, is a bit puzzling, as he plays predominantly at 6,according to some sources ,he has problems defensively.

The mentality/attitude could stem from the coaching team, in my opinion, maybe the coaching team are too pally with the players??, for mine, we need new blood in the coaching team, but it wont happen - IMO.

Richard Swain alluded to the fact, that in his opinion, too many players at Hull, think 'they've made it',when they sign for us, when in his opinion, they should be aiming for international honours.

I'd have Kear back in a shot

Schofield/Gregory & Hanley all world class players but rubbish coach's. So what's to say Horney is not very good technical coach. But everyone knows everything on here. Lol

I think its pretty obvious to everyone that we are a badly coached team, If the coach/manager (Radford) had performed so badly for so long in any other profession he'd be long gone. Pretty obvious that isn't going to change either, the best we can hope for is he gets some experienced backroom staff. Or gets offered the England job

I recall John Kear once saying something (think it was after the Cup Final) along the lines of how it was a pleasure working with the FC squad as they would give their all every week (would need to Google the actual quote to be sure of what he actually said). Whilst that would no doubt be subject to debate I know that from my own personal point of view it certainly felt that during Kear's time that I left more games which we had lost feeling satisfied with the performance. Whereas nowadays I seem to leave deflated because of our performance.

Take Friday's result for example, I should be pleased that we ran Cas close and gave them a game but instead I'm bemoaning the mistakes and whatnot we made. Now, I'm not saying things like that mistakes didn't happen under Kear but back then it felt more like a blip. These days it's become the norm.

EDIT: Found the quote...

Quote:The secret is working with a great bunch of fellows who give their absolute best, week in week out.
