Given Lineham was announced as leaving and then coincidentally 'dropped' along with the murmerings regarding Shaul (and we know what the head coach truly thinks of him already) I don't think it's that surprising there's being a dip. IMO our coaching personnel isn't that good/isn't good enough to take this team further, if we break into the top 6 by end of the season it'll be a miracle but would at least prove that we have stood still compared to 2012/13 and not gone backwards.

All those things above are down to the coach, it's down to him to ensure that players don't waiver from the plan, it's his job to drill the players in such a way that everything they do with regard to execution is 2nd nature even when under duress & tiredness (a sports psychologist is massively important in this aspect), it's the coaches job to recognise when a player is knackered & needs subbing BEFORE he makes that critical error, it's the coaches job to adjust how the team play on the fly.
Yes the players have to do things on the pitch but saying that if the players aren't executing, aren't putting in the effort, aren't backing up, making incorrect decision etc is just down to the players isn't accurate.
What the coach does, how he prepares the players both individually & as a team, how he instills confidence, mental fortitude, how to address every aspect of playing RL at the highest level is the biggest part of what happens on the field. We have a decent squad/team, we've shown in small spurts how good we can be, and there have being some really good performances, however it's all so on and off even through our decent run we had some patchy performances/wins, atm it's being more off than on hence 8th position, that is down to the coach both the good and the bad.
It makes you wonder why "good" coaches ever lose matches.
Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Magic weekend hangover? I think the team that wins always has a downturn in form, the losers always seem to improve after. We beat Widnes after now seem to of lost momentum - Rovers on the other hand have found form since, even without Campese. Seems to happen most seasons too

I agree, you're at least fair and have praised the team when due. It was aimed at certain posters that seem to hardly ever post when the teams in form, but all over the board like a rash when there's been a couple of defeats.

You don't get it do you? where did I at any point say that losing was virtually impossible with a 'good' coach?
No, it lessens the chances of losing, 'very good' coaches are able to get a better overall std out of their players more often than weaker coaches. Darryl Powell is a prime example of a very good coach with players that perform more often than they don't with on paper as individuals a weaker squad than ours over the last 1.5 seasons.
You can have all the talent in the world but you still need a 'good' coach to bring that out of you/to perform to your best consistantly, all the greatest athletes/teams have/have had great coaches behind them.

We've had Catalans and Leeds away whereas they've had three homes games against midtable teams and lost one of them. The only away games Widnes have won were at the bottom two.

why dont you just go and support someone else ,all you ever do is have digs ,never say anything positive even when they win, this dip as you call it has seen us beat at catalans were in all fairness were the better side and only dodgy calls cost us. Beat at Leeds were not many teams go and win, lost Mini and pryce again had some really dodgy calls against us and regardless what you say we took them all the way and if not for individual errors which is not the coaches fault we would have beaten a top side. To say your annoying is a understatement .If you dont like what is going on then do one ,what we need now is fans to back the club not pratts like you who do the club no good at all. Constructive criticism yes the same boring crap NO
