THE INDEPENDANT: Today the east, which contains the biggest council estate in Europe, is poor, a place of high unemployment and low expectation. The west, which has the city centre and the university, is posh and prosperous.
I think the question should be of yourself, as in "what size bus am I comfortable driving, abroad, in a country where the language is not my native tongue"

The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1999 regulate the requirements for driving licences and the structure of driver training. Schedule 2 to the regulations contains a list of driving licence categories and sub-categories (sometimes called groups) showing the licence holder's entitlement to drive certain vehicles on driving licences issued after 1st January 1997.
Category D Motor vehicles constructed or adapted for the carriage of passengers having more than eight seats in addition to the driver's seat, including any such vehicle drawing a trailer having a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kilograms.
If you passed your test after 1st January 1997 you need to get category D on your licence before you can drive anything bigger than an 8 seater.

Before he gets too excited, he'd be better making enquiries about who, if anyone, would hire him a minibus for continental use
The older I get, the better I was

Erm, I did say that I've been looking into various things so maybe you should read properly by assuming that I haven't thought of that? (I have been reading into it as a matter of fact)

By the way, still can't believe you've got that as your avatar, Lewis.
I've actually found one company where insurance can be got if 21. All I'm doing at the moment is seeing if its possible. At the moment its looking like a possibility. I just needed to know what type of vehicle can be hired and driven with a normal driving license. Looks like its more possible with a 9 seater but not any more than that at the moment unless a few drivers have higher category driving licences

I bet that'll be expensive though! Best checking the policy too.
