I was on a little bit of Balmforth watch and I agree with Cummins.
He has got areas to improve.
I won’t list what I saw but I’d like to see him get fitter. That would likely solve half the issue about getting back onside much quicker and being involved in the defence of kicks.
His speed of the play the ball was great to see.

Balmforth looks a really good prospect but you have to listen to Grix’s comments.
There are reasons why he hasn’t been selected.
He and the coaching staff have access to his fitness data and see him day in,
day out.
They’ve already alluded to the fact you can’t keep playing kids week in week out.
Lewis Martin was rested and came back even stronger today.
Don’t put too much emphasis on Balmforth.
Todays game was against a poor Leeds.

Thought Lane went well again today too.

Yes, it's repeated on Sky Sports Arena tomorrow afternoon.

Agree thought Smith was our worst player.

He was definitely starting to struggle with the pace a little bit towards the end. I noticed a couple of times on our exits sets he was slow to get back onside and wasn't getting back to DH until the 3rd or 4th tackle. I was surprised he got left on, but I think it's a good thing he did because it will do him good. Defensively I saw very little to pick fault with. In attack I think he's head and shoulders above Houghton and Smith. The quality of his passing was excellent, especially in that rain. He was routinely spinning 20 metre passes straight to the hands of Reynolds and Trueman, his awareness of where to attack was really good, and when he goes himself he's got the speed and strength to make himself hard to stop. I'd be really disappointed if Houghton just comes straight back in when fit.

If Houghton come straight back in it needs to be for smith. Give him 20 minutes then bring balmforth on for 1/2 hour or so

I would have liked to see Moy get much more involved in the attacking line.
I don’t think he made an attacking link up and I’m not sure he took an offload.
I won’t watch the match again but I remember messaging friends that I wanted to see his pace in the line and soon.
Losing possession 6 times inside the Leeds 10 metre zone is highly frightening and I’d like to see Trueman boss this much more so we do not mess up again like this.

This win was so needed as the boys will get CONFIDENCE from this and in training they get to focus much more on the fine detail in confidence and good spirits.

Let’s make sure the next game we are more polished with the same enthusiasm as I know the Wire won’t want to lose 3 games on the spin.

Overall our attacking play was poor, rarely movi g the ball and certainly not with Intent and causing any space out wide. The set where we had 5 barges at the line by the props followed by a nothing kick was awful

As I said in an earlier post, this season is very much an opportunity to have a look at our future prospects, and the likes of Balmforth Martin Staveley Moy Charles, have shown what they can do, and hopefully we continue to secure the services of these kids.

Denieve needs to be on the bench regularly now, probably at the expense of Smith, but as boardwalk says, we don’t need to flog them either, you can see the potential and the flaws of youth, it was so good watching yesterday, my hands were hurting applauding them. Well done.
