After a steward tried to "help" him by doing exactly what the guy was doing, the steward then had to wait for his supervisor. It took a little while before the supervisor appeared and they then proceeded to have a discussion about what the problem was. All this time they held up the rest of the queue and wouldn't allow anybody else to at least try and use the turnstile scanner which would have both eliminated whether the turnstile scanner or pass/ticket was at fault and allowed others to enter the ground. Sadly there seems to be a lack of common sense among the stewards apart from the technical issues with the scanners themselves.
Used to be a lot of students stewarding, a few lads I knew at uni did it who weren't by any means daft. Now one of the lads watching turnstiles in east is someone who was a couple of years below me at school and rode the short bus. Surprised he's left unsupervised.
