My dad, a lifelong FC supporter, is 81 and quite unsteady on his feet and cannot walk too far. He recently got a disabled pass for his car. I'm looking to bring him to the Huddersfield game this Friday. Could anyone advise me of the best place to park please? For instance, can a space around the stadium be booked/paid for? Alternatively, are there any other nearby parking places? Many thanks in advance for all help.

Unfortunately all the disabled spaces around the stadium bowl and the Carnegie are taken and there is a waiting list for them. There is Walton Street car park but that might be a bit of a trek for him. Alternatively they will let you drop him off around the stadium bowl and for you to park up and then pick him up again after the game. If you call Haley on Reception and explain your dads situation she may be able to offer some more alternatives.

Only 150 disabled parking apaces around the ground out of a 1,000, that's simply not enough IMHO. not when you have easy access to a carpark for able bodied persons 5 minutes walk away.
Does the club have some wheelchairs that can be used to help get folk from car park to the concourse at least?

Not that I know of, but I can raise it with them and see if it could be viable but I suppose it all depends on the usage. I did look into hiring a mini bus and the club would fund it to ferry disabled folks from Walton Street and Carnegie but it came down to cost and usage and it just wasn't viable. As far as I am aware we have to "buy" extra parking spaces from the SMC to accommodate the disabled people we have, thats why we had to start paying for bays for the season when they used to be free, but I'm not sure on how many, if any we now buy. Also as far as I am aware the club use the recommended ratio of disabled bays to capacity of the stadium, we also try and accommodate away disabled supporters wherever possible too.

Review of provision for Disabled supporters, doesn't mention parking specifically but maybe Hull White Star can take the opportunity to raise the question. There clearly aren't enough spaces for disabled fans at the moment. The Council should really be telling the SMC that a minimum % of the total capacity should be allocated. They should also be free, it's still a Council Car Park so blue badge holders should be able to park in the same way as they can in towns and cities.

Technically all wheelchair fans should be sat in a wheelchair space (ie around the bottom of the stands or in the designated wheelchair platforms in the stands) and ambulent disabled should be sat the row in front of the disabled platforms for evacuation purposes, but obviously this isn't always the case. I am ambulent disabled but don't sit where the SMC would like me to sit. As for the car parking, the Council don't need to tell the SMC about the minimum percentage, they already know and its adhered to, in fact the club provide over the national % but we have to buy these spaces from the SMC and thats why we are charged a nominal fee for the season to cover those costs.

I don't know where you'd stand on stating its a Council Car Park to be honest. The hospitals in the area are technically public spaces but you still have to pay (disabled not included) and they have a private company patrolling the car parks. If we were to use your idea about parking the same in towns and cities, that would be on a first come, first serve basis for the spaces and that would cause a lot of chaos and arguments so we are correct in doing it the way we do.

I've noticed since the new safety officer has come on board, things have been tightened up and rules strictly adhered to like waiting exactly 15 minutes at the end of a game to be able to move around the bowl, its always been 15 minutes and 45 minutes before kick off to be in your bay, but we had a bit of leeway before but its been strictly adhered to now to the minute and some fans are not used to it.

6% is the figure but it's still not enough. As for charging people, even at the Olympic stadium it's free.
