Great diary, Wilf - you always manage to put into words my emotions after the match - and I know exactly what you mean by assuming the worst at the beginning of the week. I do exactly the same, but let's face it, our scrambling wins of the last few weeks don't contain enough promise, structure, consistency and confidence to give us confidence, do they?
Your comments on the Allams' behaviour and those fans who believe it has nothing to do with us brought to mind Niemoller's famous quote:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
