Looking at the results of the 16s and 19's we have been up there with the top teams and certainly not far off, it is how they develop from that age and into SL players and I am confident with the current set up, these players will continue to come through like they have the last 3 years.
The youth system at hull is in very good hands and will continue to produce SL standard players.
Last year we had as many players in both squads as the other teams and the likelyhood is that next time we will have more players included.
Well the persons picking the squads will have seen far more of the players than you or I will have so are in a far better place to judge how good they are. We are quick to acknowledge the selections when we have a fair few in like last year but those same selectors are now in your eyes making a mistake in not choosing more this time around, you can' have it both ways. It has to be the yardstick by how we judge how the youth is going compared to other clubs is it not???
As it stands the squads have 2 Hull players in there, considering how well we are supposed to be doing (& we aren't doing too badly over the last 2 years) do you not think that it could be better? And as DW accurately points out none are from outside the first team squad.
I checked and all the Wigan lads are outside of their first team squad.
On the second part you basically agreed with what I said, the importance of the coaching at the youth/academy level and yes we will continue to produce SL std players, however if you judge by the amount of players being picked from the top clubs AND that come through to play 1st team we still need to keep things up, no good just having a good year then fall off the next.
