I think there have been traffic wardens (proper ones, not stewards huddled in a group doing nothing) employed once at Walton Street, and the lights at the bottom of Walton Street/Anlaby Road. It was noticable on that ocassion that the traffic cleared the car park and Walton street in record time and there was no evidence of any real problems further up anlaby road.

Sadly they were never seen again after this one game.

How about....

Instead of stopping cars at the entrance to the car parks for drivers to get their tickets (and thereby causing huge tailbacks down Walton Street) why not let the cars straight in and have 7 or 8 visible ticket 'wardens' on foot walking through the car park. Drivers park up, find a warden, get a ticket and display it in their cars. After k.o., the wardens then check the cars... if no ticket the car is clamped?

The main problem with the tailbacks is the ridiculously short traffic light timing for the exits from Walton st. Whack em up to a full mintue and you will see the area clear a lot quicker.

Same thing all over the City is that. The timings are all wrong and need a total overhaul. Especially at rushour!

only in hull could these 'issues' still be happening 7 years after it opened

Walton Street should have been widened from the start, it is council land and even just one extra lane to filter into the fairground would make a huge difference. The land is used every day for markets, park and ride, City and FC so it would justify the outlay.

The stadium also shouldn't be expanded until that Rail halt is built.

there is no reason why the traffic lights couldn't be manually controlled before and after games either, which would be very easy to do its just the usual lazy and bad planning this city always gets lumbered with.

Good thinking, or simply install a couple of pay and display machines.
