With 2 more 'marquee' players to come {not russell} allegedly {source unverified}, very good times

I think you're being a bit optimistic there 1873...I think you'll find that our two marquee players have already signed - Johnstone and McMeeken

We have 3 marquee level players.
Johnstone, McMeekan and Trueman

I doubt Truman will be on Marquee at Trinity after 2 years of injury disruption. TJ will be but I think there’s dispensation so he won’t count.

Mckmeeken I expect will probably count and be our marquee.

Agree, at his best Trueman would probably be worth marquee money but taking into account injuries and form over the last 5 years it would be surprising, to say the least. He's only played since he got injured at Cas in 2019 just 11,11, 19,15, &11 games this last season.

Johnson's a no-brainer, after all, he will only count as 50k on our cap because he'd be a homegrown marquee player. McMeekan most probably is, as you say.

Rumours are that we've managed to keep a couple of signings out of the media and one of those could be Marquee, but with no quota spots and practically every decent British player signed up I have trouble believing it. We may have managed to keep someone secret but I'd be surprised if it's more than that.

Anyway, good signing from the guys. I'm surprised it wasn't longer tbh but I suppose we have an option for an extra year, so if he keeps developing it's as good as a 2 year deal anyway, which will keep all parties happy.

Just to clarify.
You are only allowed 2 marquee players in the sense that you can apply the rule which limits the value on the salary cap.
If one is club trained the value is £75k no matter how much you pay him. Which would be TJ.
The other value is £150k. Both Trueman and McMeekan are in that group but only one can be marquee.

I thought they'd upped the marquee players allowed to 3 tbh, it was 2 when they initially brought I in, wasn't it?

Just looked it up and I'm right.
Quote:Super League clubs are permitted to have three marquee players in 2024, but at least one of them must be Federation Trained. This is an increase from two marquee players in 2023.
The salary cap value for each marquee player is limited to £150,000, or £75,000 if the player is Club Trained. The Super League operates a real-time salary cap system that calculates a club's salary cap position at the start and throughout the season

In Superb form ,was a joy to watch contesting those bombs and crashing over the try line , we really are putting a team together that will be more than competitive in super league

Really pleased great prospective full back - but where’s he going to play at start of year ? I know we have to have cover in every area - surely he’s a potential starter but we already have best full back in championship and potential club captain in the number 1 jersey
