Hope you exit the game with at least a hat trick of tries in the play off final, Jerry. Glad we had the chance to witness
your last season down here at BV following an illustrious career. Best wishes for the future.

One of the amusing things about coming late to something, is that you live in ignorant bliss.

Up to a couple of years ago, I knew practically nothing about RL. I just thought McGillvary was some old bloke who ran down the line and scored a few tries for us!

Then the BBC website had an article saying: "Former Huddersfield Giants and England winger Jermaine McGillvary has announced he will retire at the end of the season."

And I'm thinking "hold on, that's our bloke. Not Huddersfield's" Ha ha.

I had my doubts about signing Jerry pre season, didn't know if his heart would really be in it after so long at the Giants BUT he has been an absolute model professional and has wholeheartedly embraced everything Trinity are trying to achieve on the field. Injuries may have unfortunately restricted his appearance's in the RWB but he has been superb for us when available. I hope Trinity give him the proper send off he deserves, and didn't get at Huddersfield, looking at the club's Facebook page today they will.
I know he has plans for life outside of RL and I wish him all the best for the future, but it would be fantastic if the club kept in contact with him and invited him from time to time to come and talk to our junior team's about how to look after yourself and make the right life choices to make the most of their Rugby League careers. I cannot think of a better mentor around.

He’s definitely a model professional and I’m happy to have seen him in trinity colours too. He could sign off with three trophies this season, Wembley appearance and tries and helping the start of a resurgence for Wakefield Trinity. Pretty good way to bow out!

Fascinating interview with Jerry

Reveals that his tricep has torn away from the bone again and he has been playing with it strapped up rather than having another operation during the season. What a legend!

I though most people knew and It was obvious that he had re-done the tricep injury when he came back from it. Think it was Wembley he re did it. Missed a few after and has been heavily strapped since and been playing patched up.

Even if he’s been playing patched up the guy is a beast and well worth the shirt.

It was a good interview and glad that we signed him and there’s been added value both sides. Hopefully he sees out a few more games and finishes strong!

I don’t think he will play every game and will be rested the odd game running up to the playoffs to keep him fresh enough but he’s that experienced he can slot in and do the job come playoff time so all good.

Seems like a real gent off the field too and top bloke.

Rugby league losing a quality individual. Maybe he will re-emerge back into the sport in the back room in some capacity in the near future.

One of his lads if not both are decent footballers and I believe at Manchester United so I can see Jermaine spending time tramming up the dreaded M62 on a regular basis, good luck Jerry in what ever venture your persue, a pleasure to have watched you and a true professional and an inspiration to all budding young players
