For the last several years we have had to mostly suffer 22/23 weeks of pain not knowing if we were going to get relegated or not, often going to the last game or simply having to rely on other clubs imploding to keep us safe. It has not been an enjoyable experience, obviously there was relief but not pleasure. Then there was the hope of the close season, hope that we would sign significant players, hope that maybe another SL club would look to have messed up. Hope is a bugger and expectations for whatever reasons were never met, worse still was the constant loss of quality players.
So this year it was obvious from watching the pre season matches that our squad was simply not capable enough of competing with any other SL squad, every pundit, expert and bookie has us as nailed on for relegation, the matches to date have proved that in reality our squad is basically a half decent Championship side.
The first positive for me is that despite their obvious lack of ability the squad as a whole have never given less than 100 % apart from the Wigan match and of course Gaskill in every game he plays.
The main positive is that we know the outcome of this season already, relegation is a certainty, we have time to adjust to the feeling, even the jibes from other clubs supporters are easy to accept, it is what it is, in the words of Pink Floyd ... there is no pain, you are receding, a distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
I am Comfortably Numb.

Think that posts is spot on sums up were we are nicely.Just a case of seeing what kind of gates we will be getting at the end of the seas at home Know if I had not watched them for 67 year could be tempted to stay at home .Thinking of getting a season ticket in hospitality next year been lucky to go in a few times and the food is good .Not worried about what players go or we get.But hope they keep the same chief

I certainly would like to See Emily Play, she couldn’t do any worse. There was Another Brick in the Wall of the stand today. Anyway, Shine on, you crazy Steve Diamond.

Wildthing, you won’t make his heart sing. Thread too negative. It will be locked shortly.

I will be clinging to every last hope until we are mathematically relegated.
Still a lot of games to go.

The positive view is that we're only 4 points from safety, with plenty of games to go.
However, the reality is that we cant even score a bloody try. Our only "strike" player is out for the season and a win (never mind a minimum of two) still looks like a fantasy wish, rather than anything close to reality.
Another nail will be hammered in our coffin by Leigh on Sunday and the season feels like its already over. :DEPRESSED:

Unlike Belly, I think were "uncomfortably" numb

As for positives, at least we didn't have a game yesterday :thumb:

Our new club song in 18 months time will be like the Max Boyce rendition about pit closures in Wales.
Something like:
THE TERRACES RED WITH RUST
THE PITCH IS COVERED IN DUST
AND THE NEW EAST STAND IS A SUPERMARKET NOW.

You need to pay more attention. That's the one bit of tge club not suffering.

Think i have the tiniest possible amount of hope remaining that we might get out of the chasm we have put ourselves in. Lose on Sunday though and that will be gone. Leigh at home was always going to be a target game even before the season started, it's even more so now. If we can't get a result against Leigh at home just where will we pick up enough points? Quite simply we won't. Must win time.
