So, I’ve mused this in other posts and done a little research on the subject. I am airing this out here as I believe our little group of ‘yes we fight between ourselves’ but all I believe have this great clubs well-being at heart. So here I go, open and honest so please only contribute positively as this is just a thought of a way that we could make our club sustainable and ours. Not always waiting for the big man to come in.
I lately have had some bad personal news about my health and I won’t be able to work again due to an injury sustained in my 20’s that has come to light.
I currently live in Cornwall but do come to games and do pay into things that help the club. Luckily I was at the first game I’d the season so at least I saw us play somewhat.
So this bad personal news that I am having to come to terms with has focused me on what is important to me and number 3 is Wakefield Trinity only behind my family and my fishing.
I can sort the first two out myself but the third is one I would like to solve with the help of all our fans of the club and as so help raise the awareness of the wider Wakefield public. I went to the 79’ final as a child stuffed 6 in a tiny car and have being a solid supporter since, going to the Yorkshire cup finals and the grand final that we came up.
Ted got us here, glover somehow kept us here and carter settled the ship afterwords. Minards has got us the stand and has us at heart.
Now could we the supporters really make a difference if we could make a true supporters Trust. Is anyone one on here willing or capable to help look into this with me to try and make this a working reality?
I have the time, I can be in Wakefield within 6 hrs. I’ve got the bit between my teeth. I’m fed up of watching by the sidelines. I personally do not want to be a hero as people may think. For me I’d like to get this set up and running then slip away into the darkness leaving something we as fans could be proud of and fit for purpose.
If anyone is truly interested in this then let us try to help our club together.
Points of view appreciated, negative comments will be ignored as we all know those but to win we must overcome adversity and I’m not interested in being popular, I just want a successful Wakefield Trinity
I know this will be obviously asking the faithful for more funds, but I’m sure we could get to an amount per member that would change our club for the best and we would not be blindly give funds to someone else to spend on our behalf as we would get a democratic vote on what happens to our, the supporters club.
Yes but again they had no influence. I mean we as supporters actually stake a financial claim into the club not a let’s help where we can just do we’re told with no clout supporters trust. Let us run our club collectively.
The original ST wasn’t set up to just aid the club, it was set up when the club looked in real jeopardy after Ted Richardson’s era. If no one else had come forward (Steve Parkin & Andrew Glover) then the ST would have run the club probably in League 1 initially.
Once Glover or more accurately Jimmy Elston took control they had no real interest in engaging with the ST and shunned any attempts to get Supporter representation on the BoD.
The take up of shares in the ST was very high and there was lots of genuine interest in what a well run ST could offer and achieve. However the almost complete shutout by Elston left the ST looking like a white elephant and after a few years it was closed

So, I'm no means against supporters helping the club, both big ways (like this) and small ways.
The big question for me is the 'influence' or 'decision making power'. I don't really understand how a supporters trust would work. How will a group of very diverse people with no say in who the other people in the trust are, making good voting decisions. You only have to look at this forum.
I applaud your drive to improve things but you'd really have to explain how it would all work to convince me.
