This is happening a lot.
I don't know the details, but it's not like we are using slave labour.
It's more likely a misunderstanding of the rules.

To be fair we don't know how these figures have been calculated but could it be along these lines.
Employee is paid £400 pw, £10ph for a 40hr week.
If the said employee then works unpaid extra 15 hours (which some employers seem to enjoy and expect these days) then the wage is still £400 but hour for hour would be the equivalent of £7.27ph?

I`m not too sure how I am stirring the pot? It is a list published by our government and could probably have been seen in just about every news paper in the country over the weekend.

If you want the details here they are:

We are 13th on a list of 239 companies, Huddersfield are on the list at number 23 and Widnes are on the list at number 120.

Spirit of 1873 Ltd, trading as Wakefield Trinity, Wakefield WF1, failed to pay £12,370.45 to 27 workers, with average arrears of £458.16 per worker.

Unless you know the full and proper details as to why these people weren't paid the minimum wage, it still seems a strange post ??

lets rethink this, how would you feel if it was YOU receiving less than the minimal wage, don't think I'd be happy would you

I for one wouldn't but they surely have the choice to work elsewhere .
That said, it's not a massive amount owed is it.
