Says in the LE that Halifax are looking at signing him after we alerted them to his availability having released him.

I thought he was a player that was earmarked to progress to the first team, but not seen enough of him to know how he was progressing

Yeah, heard good things about him. Looks like we will be losing one of our 3 halfs and id have thought if we are looking to the future that Finny will be the one to make way so keeping Hampshire as our young project?

It's a shame, I really liked him - but and it's always been at the back of my mind regarding him - oh my word he's small and unfortunately unlike Burrows he doesn't quite have that electric pace. You'd have to fear for him in a full on SL game.

oh well.

From what I saw of him he had an outstanding kicking game but was too small for SL, might go well in the Championship (kinda like Gareth Moore).

I remember a certain Aussie halfback once labelled `Too small` he did not have electrifying pace either, in fact he was also labelled too slow to play professionally and released from multiple clubs at a young age. Now described by some as the greatest player in the history of Rugby League.

Tim Smith was a brilliant player and quite possibly my favourite ever but I wouldn't class him as the greatest player in the history of rugby league...

;-) :D

I think HV's point is never judge a book by it's cover? Could say that about any player though I guess.

It's a big call to label him (I presume Alfie?) the greatest ever. Personally I don't get that as the game has changed so much over the decades that a great player now may not even have made it years ago!
