Well...I have lambasted him many a time, quite rightly too, as we all have, but I would have to say he had a pretty good game tonight. Only 3 or 4 errors I thought and best call of the night was spotting that the Wigan pass was forward before we knocked it on, early doors. Only fair to praise him I feel when we have scorned him previously

He also reffed well vs hull Kr too. Maybe we are playing more to his officiating style I’m not sure. It helps we’ve performed well and got on the front foot. Thought he referred very well tonight and fair play to him for that.

Yes he had a good game last night and didn’t give in last night to Wigan’s constant bleating on all his calls against them . Just shows when your the dominant team calls start to go your way, or like Wigan who were chasing the game they kept getting pinged for offences . We’ve been in that boat all too often this season and it’s nice to see us get the rub of the green and keep the penalties down

He is a much better ref then he gets credit for. Not quite as pedantic as he was once upon a time. Some refs can occasionally get accused of biased towards certain sides, I wouldn't put him in that category.

Great to see him penalise for back chatting too

This is some thing I'd like to see brought back in to our game

one criticism in general of all refs I notice and it happened again last night, we was 7-0 up in penalties and a complaint comes in from lockers that they hadn't had one as if they had some god forgive right to be even, then the get a couple of soft one on the trot as if to shut him up

He reffed very well last night. As I've all said with him don't give him the chance to blow the whistle, our discipline was good last night and we were rewarded for that.

Does the fact that we were on the telly influence things?

I think it's simply to do with being dominant.
When you are struggling to keep up you give penalties away. That's the team not he ref.
Tonight it was Wigan.

Does "reffed very well" mean that he was favourable to Wakefield as, you never hear this comment when your team loses.
Dont know about the "very well" but, he didnt get bullied by the Pies and over the years, the so called "bigger teams" have always seemed to gain advantage from their "status".
The penalties, in our favour, particularly in the first half certainly helped us get on the front foot.
Wigan, as usual, were putting in plenty of high shots which quite often they get away with but at least Child stood firm.
Penalties for back chatting are a breath of fresh air and if they remain consistent with this, we'll all enjoy the game a hell of a lot more.
