The wisdom of franchising has been done to death. The efficacy and the equity of the RL higher ups has been deabted to the enth degree. The merits of our, and our fellow clubs, has been rehearsed time and time again.

Today is but one day in nie on 50 000 days in our clubs history. It is but one day. Of the previous 50 000 or so days decisions have been made and events have taken place which have earned themselves the claim in some department or other ' the most important day in the clubs history.'

Today is an important day for the short to medium term history of the club. Make no mistake however whatever todays decision a hell of a lot of work will be required by those at the club we love. If we get a licence we have lots and lots of work to do to become a competitive, attractive side drawing viable home crowds. If we don't go down a similar amount of work is required to rebuild and restructure for life in the lower leagues and a tilt at the next francise aplication.

For us the fans, either way, what will be required is loyalty and REALISM! There will be thousands more days history of our club lets not get carried away one way or another based on todays decisions. I have left BV at the end of a number of seasons when we were relegated on the basis of not winning enough games, our rugby was poor, our infrastructure even worse the doom mongers in the cemetary had us in terminal decline. They were not right then and I see no reason why they would be right today (when the club has an infrastructure to be admired) if we are not awarded a franchise.

Roll on the next 50 000 days, if its the championship for us there are plenty of clubs there with histories as illustrious as our own down there, with fans as passionate and brim full of the spirit of RL as our own.

Chin up to the doom mongerers, good luck to the franchise winners and fortituder to those who miss out today. Most of all lets try to keep our dignity in joy or dispair - no RL fan today will do the spirit of our great game any favours with gloating or vitriol.

I was looking to post something similar in vein, but there is no way I could have possibly put it better.

An excellent post.

I have got to agree.
Twelve months ago I would have jumped right on the opportunity to have a pop at trinity fans losing out on their franchise, particularly after reading some of the jibes at us down in the 'lower leagues'.
Today, strangely, I feel very different. I actually feel for you lot. My anger is more to do with those running the game and the direction they are taking us rather than an individuals set of supporters.

You will lose your franchise in an hours time. I won't gloat. There will be shed loads on here who can't wait to have a go. I won't be one of them.

I sincerely hope you re-group, do the championship justice and that your club survives. Though I so much want to see you hammered by Fev, I cannot for the life of me imagine rugby with Wakefield Trinity RLCF.

It is not the end of the world and they are kind words owiepob. The problem is we all fear that Super League/top flight rugby will become a closed shop and there is no way back. I can handle relegation, I've been through it. Demotion is far worse for me and hurts a lot more. Our club does all it can and by golly it has put in a strong application for today. To be denied it so a flawed plan with weak applicants can prosper is an injustice I find very hard to take.

Bring what may, I am Wakefield until I die.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Sharing First World problems so you can get it right first time.

I fear that too. But I did all those years ago when we were demoted at the inception of SL. Widnes fans thought that too 3 years ago and they were wrong.
