Wakefield Trinity Wildcats v Salford City Reds 3.30pm
Ref I Smith TJ M Wilson TJ P Wharton IG P Grundill IG J Farrell RR M Craven MC I Ollerton

Right first home game of the season, against salford won at the weekend vs celtic didnt look too impressive, however looked to have good go-forward with alker making alot of yards from the ruck.

Hopefully we'll see snitch, obst and scully, to add size and quality to the pack, and give us another pivot option.

Realistically, from the two performances we've seen this year v leeds & wigan, i am expecting a win if im honest, and if we want to get into the playoff's these are must win games especially at home.

So thoughts predictions, where will salford do well / hurt us, can we score a fair few try's and improve the confidence, hopefully the lads will perform with the same amount of spirit and desire along with eagerness to tackle and hopefully we'll get another 2 points on the board :)

I don't think Salford's first game back in SL being against their NL opponents will have done them any favours as far as Sunday is concerned, that game was below SL pace from what I saw, and as such the pace of our game ought to be too much for them until they get up to speed.

We should have won by plenty at Wigan with the chances we created, and IMO we made enough breaks at Headingley to have won that as well if it weren't for Leeds great scrambling defence, I'm not so sure that Salford will be able to stop us if we make the same amount of breaks on Sunday, added to that our defence has been outstanding over the first two games and they may find it a lot tougher to open us up than they did the Welshmen.

If we can hold our form and get a bit of luck in running I feel we will give one team a tanking early in the season, Salford might be that team, then again they are just the sort of team that we go to sleep against and get turned over.

Having said that I will stick my head over the parapet and stand to be shot down, I'm going for a comfortable win.

Sorry to hendo but i think we need cover in terms of someone with a bith of pace in case cover is needed out on the wings or at FB. Have been inpressed with Hendo the past couple of games thou and wouldnt be suprised to see him in there on sun.

The Wakefield of old would probably have blown this game, why we seemed to do this i don't know.

I don't think it will happen this time around but i don't expect it to be easy against a side that will be targeting this game for a win.

If JD gets them in the right frame of mind i think we will win but only after a few nervous moments.

Men to watch for Salford Alker and Stapleton.

I'd probably have Hendo instead of Bibb, Bibbs been pretty quiet and Hendos been absolutely everywhere tackling everything that moves, 72 tackles in two games is very impressive, especially seeing as he started on the bench at Wigan. He's kept hold of the ball as well and looks to have bulked up. Hendo may well be the grafter to replace McGivlaray?Golden if he carries on his good work.

I agree if he sticks to what he has started it will be his best season, you couldn't ask for more effort than 72 tackles he's done so far, keep it up hendo :)

Friday night despite a rather flattering scoreline and glaring error for try two, was by no means a bad performance. Starting off Salford at home is absolutely sound, given our home record against the Reds in SL. Possibly the team we've had the most success against. However, don't expecting an easy one though and the reason for that is Shaun McRea. Just like our own JK, this bloke knows how to really get in the minds of his players.

agreed i would play Hnedo before Bibey. Think Hendo has been quality and i would like him to have an injury free season.

think Bibey has been better so far this year as well but woulld stick with Hendo.

hoping for a win in a tough match!!

I'd agree with that, I think the balance of the forwards was pretty good in the first two games and if Scully comes back then he should be replacing a prop not a 2nd rower, five props will give us less mobility and may cause us problems in defence. I also think it would suit us better if Scully started and Ollie came on from the bench, I always get the impression that Ollie has a bigger impact coming off the bench than starting, we haven't really seen any of his big runs yet so far and he has seemed to be running the ball in with less vigour than last season to me, maybe starting and running up against fresh forwards numbs his impact a bit.
