I just don't get it. Some results haven't been great, and the occasional performance has been poor, but we have very limited resources and are sitting comfortably in seventh. The six teams above us are all teams we would expect to be above us, with greater resources and much better players. Of that bottom six of the top flight, where we are all similar in terms of expectation, we are the best. We are where we could have realistically have hoped to be.

As I've been saying for weeks, I too don't see what the big issue is; we're about where we could reasonably expect to be, given the personnel and resources available to us. Yes we've lost some close games - but our league position is entirely predictable and not in any way a disaster.

Anyone even thinking 'Chester out' is either a moron, or has their expectations entirely skewhiff.

Unfortunately the goons calling for Chester's head haven't factored in the fact that a few teams had distinctively average season's last season, that was never gonna carry on. We're where we should be, I believe if Kear was still here we'd probably be a couple of winners better off. Hey ho, next up Shudds.

Genuine, non-snippy question; why - on what basis?

I remember John Kear on Superleague full time after the Hull KR win, responding to a question on how he thinks Wakefield`s season would pan out he said "They will be top 4, without a doubt". Now for me that was a bit far fetched and I was a little surprised how confident he was in this team in all honesty!

My question would be if someone who 1. Knows a hell of a lot about rugby league and super league and 2. Has been with this group of players throughout last season and most of the pre season - If he has these expectations of Wakefield Trinity then how can we call fans for having expectations higher than what we have currently seen this season?

For me, we are probably just below where we should be at - We should have beaten Hudds last week, we have had a few unlucky losses with Hull and Leeds that could have gone either way and Salford.. Well lets not talk about that. I get the optimism and i get the realism and I get the frustrations from some fans, Chester out is not the answer, but I am starting to question what has changed in my mind, the team just are not the same team from last season, could be Kear I dont know, but we now have to work with what we have got and get behind the team.

There's definitely a few who need a reality check. What a crazy idea.

There are just too many mischief makers and trolls around these days.

I just feel there's something missing in our defence, we don't seem to be getting into the oppositions faces and forcing them back, we appear to be missing more tackles.
Last season and the start of this season we were doing that, I'm assuming those tactics was a lot do do with JK. It feels to me as an outsider that Kears input was still there for a while this season, we then had a few losses and CC struggled to make positive changes.
I actually said in close season that we might struggle with the fact that Kear had gone.
As an aside and obviously nothing to do with JK is Cc's need to rotate integral players, I just don't get making changes for changes sake, wait till players are injured/fatigued, get a good settled squad together who hopefully know each other inside out.

And the majority seem to have a low posting rate, it does appear mischievous at times, just coincidence?

Some of that I can get on board with - and I guess Kear, for all his sometimes unattractive brand of basic RL, did know how to coach defence.

Personally, I think the factor that some people are failing to account for is the one that Chester can't control - the improvements made by other teams on last seasons form; or indeed their failure to perform to expectations - such as Saints; 2 points that absolutely no one would predict we would achieve.

As for change for changes sake - I don't profess to know the inner workings of the squad, so I can't say why the changes have happened; but I prefer the explanation that if the head coach, who's continued employment is dependent on results, makes a change, there'll be a reason for it - injury, game time, form, off-field issues, whatever - the least likely reason, in my mind, is that he does it just for lols.

So whilst I don't disagree that we could defend better in some situations - and our attack is sometimes a bit shaky - I think that on balance, we're doing about as well as could be expected; the early season run (against teams we could reasonably expect to beat) has just raised expectations.
