Mr. Zucchini Head wrote:Win that and you are two games from Wembley. You arent quite good enough to mount a serious top 4 challenge but you certainly are good enough to win a couple of one offs. I know survival is paramount for you guys, but you look safely in the top 8 to me. Chester saying it isnt a priority is just deflecting from a poor result imo.

That said anyone who wants him out now needs to give their head a bang.

Chester emphasised "our" priorities before the cup exit, which was poor form.
Every head coach in every sport should be putting out a positive idea on winning the next game and should never infer that a game is unimportant, apart from the week before a cup final.
Surely we would have been better placed throwing all that we could at the cup game and trying to build some confidence.

The most disappointing aspect of last night was just how little Huddersfield had to do to win the game.

The OP is ridiculous
Chester is a good coach
I do believe that

Although I do think we are missing JK guidance
However we have to get on with out him as JK is in the past

I absolutely loath huddersfield
I was fuming at the loss on Friday on the same level as the sts loss at the end of last year

I've moved on though now to the next match
Let's make sure we get it right at magic though or I will be suicidal

I'm like that whenever Shudds have a win, regardless of the opponents. Equivalent of something on my shoe.

History will judge our coach as to wether he was good or bad for our club at the moment I’ll reserve judgement myself and see how he handles our next few supposedly winnable games .
As we all know coaches come and go , and we’ve had our share in the past , good, bad and indifferent, but for me the priority is to make sure this great club survives super league at all costs .
Without our status in the top flight I fear for the future of our club . Let’s get through this season with as little disruption as possible to staff and players , then regroup and see where we are at , if we need changes then I’m sure mr Carter will do the right thing for the club .

I don’t think sacking CC is the answer here but don’t subscribe the view that as supporters we can’t have a grumble nor hold a negative opinion on a player or a coach. There’s been a sanctimonious movement towards supporters somehow thinking they are included in the ‘win as a team lose as a team’ philosophy, people pay their money and they will have their say. Going out of the challenge cup with a barely whimper is not going to result in people coming away happy. For me we just regroup and redouble our efforts on getting top 8.

It’s been said reasonably on here that a good platform for building a successful long term squad is 100 games together, players will come and go but a core remains. I’m willing to go with that theory. I reckon we’re somewhere between half and two thirds of the way through that. Mistakes have been made but we’re always punching above our weight, and always will have to if we’re to be successful – even with a sugar daddy it would take a few years to get up to speed. Deferred gratification Sociologists used to call it, seems a hard thing to sell as instant success is almost demanded in the internet bubble of today. I still think the right man is in charge but there will coming a breaking point even in a long term project.

Currently we’re struggling to nail down consistency in some pivotal positions – this may continue through the season but I think we have enough to hit top 8 at the split and see what we can do from there. I would hope now that that those in control have made some decisions for 2019 on paper, that top 8 place will be critical to early moves being made to improve on what we have.

Time to kill at work. Thought I'd expand on my initial thoughts of 'shut up you tart'

Willzay wrote:I think the recruitment has been poor this year. Baldwinson not given a chance, Hampshire been hit and miss (not given a chance in his favoured position), and as for Horo and PP, well not much needs to be said about them too.

Sorry to jump in on this, but on the Hampshire situation Chester isnt the first coach not to play him at stand off, basically every coach he has had hasn't. Maybe it's him that could be the issue, which is a shame because on potential and our lack of attacking halves in this country he could fill a void
