But we are a club with 4k fans, the people of the city either aren't interested or we just didn't grow the fan base due to making sure we got the club in a balanced state. So I guess aiming to just finish above the promoted weak club has been where we were and this year Leigh invested. With everyone fit I still thought we were by far the weakest team.
I'm starting to get to the stage where I feel maybe due to money Super league isn't for us and the IMG stuff tells me second league should probably be our home. I know its bleak but if the new pitch and stand do generate 500k as MC hopes we could build a good COMPETATIVE side to be proud of and i just don't feel it now. Saying you support Trinity means that whatever league we are in, the fans clearly in some circles think the owners want to destroy the club that clearly isn't the case but we need to realise we are the poorest club money wise and with no rich backer we just can't compete.
I agree with this. There is just no fun watching Trinity anymore and a win is no longer an anticipation. We know it is money down the pan that could have been spent on something more enjoyable. I don't criticise anyone. We've ridden our luck for a while, but luck always runs out.
I see the future quite positively, however. With the money the stadium can generate away from the rugby, we may well be one of the richer clubs in the Championship, so have a decent chance of coming up again (which will involve watching competitive games and wins), and when we do, we may come up as a better proposition than we are at the moment, so more sustainable in the long term.
Yep, a short term blip, but we've a better chance than most at coming up, subject to how the new league structure will work with the IMG proposals (it cant be that a side can only be promoted when they just happen to finish top in the same year that a category B team finishes bottom).
Think of it this way: the excitement around Leigh is due to a promotion after a successful season. There wouldn't be half the excitement if they'd just had ten years of finishing ninth in the Super League.
