If, for sake of argument, you had some very fine Scottish smoked salmon in the freezer that you'd forgotten about for several months (9 months, to be precise), and the advice in the packaging was "consume within 1 month of freezing", would you still defrost it and eat it 9 months later?

You eat Kebabs and then worry about use by dates, you could not make it up
