homme vaste wrote:I interviewed Ben a few year back for a procurement position at Asda House in Leeds. Very bright kid who studied CIPS whilst he was playing.

If I remember rightly he made the switch to Union when he finished up at Salford, but I actually saw him play at Shawcross a few years back as well.

As you say looked very promising but probably made the wrong career move out of pure frustration. On the flip side of the coin there are plenty of success stories out there for young players that have decided to jump ship after been not deemed good enough for a first team spot.

That’s all true but Chester’s priority is what’s right for the club not the player. I’m sure he cares about the young players but he has to think teAm/ club first that’s his job.

If players get impatient or frustrated they can exercise there right of choice but that’s not Chester’s problem. Like everything in life there are conflicts of interest and if someone i knew was involved in the game I’m certain I’d find it hard to be neutral!

You seem very clued up Homme Vaste... why don’t you name a couple of these young players who have jumped ship yet found success?

Why does he need to RL is full of them in fact our team is full of them - just look at Arundel, Lyne and Ashurst.

The point is all clubs dissapoint players or miss talent it’s part of life.

I would think Kyle Amor, Adam Hughes and Ryan Atkins are very good examples of very young lads discarded by their original clubs who went on to be class acts for Wakefield and others.

The list of players in this category is far longer than the list of young players who lived up to the early hype.

Do you think? I wouldn't say apart from Amor any of these players have really found "success" although I guess success isn't always outlined by silverware.

Great thread so far.

If you guys would stop crying at each other like two year olds it might be a decent thread.
It started about Jordan but I think talking about young players in general is still in the spirit of the thread.
I'm going to clean up the non relevant stuff. As I seem to have said to Vasty, Trinity18 and Homme Vaste a million times, if you want to do your personal "banter" do it by PM. We don't wan to see it. AUP still applies to PM.

I'm pretty sure you can name Amor and Atkins as successes after they were let go by their clubs.
I'd say Kirmond the same. I think Leeds made the wrong decision on BJB too when you compare him to Briscoe who took his place.

Gale was moved on too. Took him a while to get to his Cas form. Think he has done ok.
Still playing now Brown was let go by Wigan. He's had a pretty good career including England selection.

I know Bradford were struggling with the Burgess twins because of what was perceived to be an un-trainable attitude. They seem to have done ok in a different environment.

The list is a long one.
It doesn't mean Jordan will play for England, or any of the other young kids we have. Chester has to make his decision on the now, and on the potential v investment. Sometimes you can see the guy might make it and still not be able to keep them on.

I would hope that if a youngster such a Jordan manages to demonstrate their ability and performs well on a regular basis, that they are rewarded with a call back to the first team, otherwise, what is the point in having him on dual reg to begin with?! If he isnt in the clubs plans then he should have been released and let someone else pay his wage.

I sincerely hope he does get his chance and he does take it, because he clearly bleeds RW+B and that is the kind of player I want filling every shirt.

Somr of the rubbish you let stand on here is staggering, you seem awfully selective in who you censor and there lays the problem imo.
