Prince Buster wrote:I will add a bit more there jinjer. I can't remember the last time Woody had a bad game. He was doing 80 minutes last season and getting MoM awards. Now he still looks good when on the field and livens us up and never puts in a bad game, yet he is lucky to get on for 20minutes at most. I have said it on another thread, Finn should have been pulled after 10 minutes and Woody would have done a far better job at 7.

Spot on there Prince. I can't understand why Woody only played the minutes he did on Saturday. As in most matches, the most lively parts of the game are when Wood is taking part. He's the unsung hero of the side for me. We can't carry on playing a poor Finn just to feed CC's ego

Last 3 posts are a good observation/s, in my view correct. But to add to all this, woody is quicker than Randal & creates more movement causing opposition to pause & think momentarily - he also passes wide of ruck & on the opposite side by selling a dummy - when Randal passes its straight to the first man who is too near ruck or he makes a dash & takes himself out for the next quick play.
We then rely on usually a forward @ acting half who passes to the first man near the ruck, result 2 tackles gone, no gain easy reads for defenders. That's why woody is generally more dynamic.c
Of course we all see things in a different light so over to you ?

Surely this is down to Chester's tactic more than anything though, I have noticed if its not one of the backs taking one for the forwards it usually goes to the first man from Randell and they take it back in towards the ruck.

I remember Peter Sharp talking about this behind the ruck play, wearing down the middle for 20/30 minutes and switching it around when with an interchange hooker comes on and playing more expansive. Looks like it is straight out of the same text book!
