My opinion on Drinkwater is that he thrives when he's playing on the back of a good pack but he doesn't strike me as one of these players who you could depend on to create some flare when your side is on the back foot.

He is though more of an organiser, Trinity 18.

These don't always get noticed, quite as much as some of the more flamboyant halves, and some of what organisers do isn't always when they are in possession of the ball.

What I would expect is better last tackle plays than what we have had before, such as better kicks, and even more so if he is playing behind a more dominant pack then what he has done in the past.

I have no problem with Hampshire at scrum half to be honest.

I do too Scarlet, to be honest.

However, I feel if we are losing Finny, and with Ackroyd also going, we do need that extra half back to provide cover, for loss of form, or injury

For us to go forward in the league we need an organising half with a strong and varied kicking game

I'd be ok with drinkwater, Hampshire is more in the mould of miller I don't see him as our long term scrum half
Although I do like Hampshire and hope he stays with us also

Interesting regarding us keeping arona if we bring a quota half in though

Isn’t Drinkwater the lad we signed but then ran into visa issues?

I’d love to keep Hampshire but I’m sure he gave an interview saying his deal at Leigh was worth 3 times what we are paying him. So to keep him we’d have to offer him a significant increase I would imagine. Shame about Ackroyd, but you’ve gotta trust the coaches judgement, although I thought he went well in the Boxing Day game.

Just looked on the RFL stats page for 2017, and Drinkwater was 4th in terms of 40/20's.

Only Gale, Brough and Sneyd kicked more than he did.

Something that has been pointed out a few times, not to mention not kicking one pointers, which is something else he has kicked a few of in his career

but srsly, hasn't Drinkwater only signed for this season at Cats
If they're not busting a gut to extend and he's fed up of wearing them onions on the training bike, and wakey up their offer.............maybe he'd sign, I dunno

Sandow would be great skills wise but if prefer a personality that fits the team.
I like Drinkwater. There'll be others like him but just like Williams I like the idea of someone who knows Super League already.
