That phrase ' DO A JOB FOR US' seems to be getting used a little too much at the moment. It is linked to many of our potential signings. In all fairness in respect of those signings the term is reasonable to use when describing them individually. However we seem to be linked to too many players who are only going to do a job.
I would like us to be linked to the odd one or two who could be described as match winners especially in the half backs. However the only player who seems to be comming next season in the half back role is another do a job man and that is Sam Obst.
The players who we have been potentially linked with us such as Ben c, Aspinwall, Dowes, Washbrook, Amor, Tongia are better than just 'do us a job players' imo and if signed would raise the quality of our squad. I like the way we seem to be going with regards to recruitment.

I partly agree.
There is a lot of daft talk about perfectly able players not being 'good enough' for us, as if we've suddenly become the Chelsea of RL; clearly that's not the case and whilst we do need to recruit some quality in key positions, we have to accept that our squad will contain a significant number of players who will do a job without setting the world on fire - that's a function of our buying power, our suction as an employer and the position we started from in terms of this seasons recruitment.
As for the moralising bit - again, I partly agree; I've made my position clear on Cockayne on the other thread, but he's a far cry from a young lad who likes a beer - that can be dealt with in a fairly straightforward way and needn't result in said young lad doing anything more repugnant than acting like a divot on Westgate.

Let's not forget who, what or where we are, eh?
Cockayne is a different issue as are some of the others I lumped in together to make a point. They are guilty of a little more than one may be willing to accept. The real issue here is that James an a few others damned on here through the years appear to be guilty of little more than being young silly lads wasting his talent against a wall in there early years. Sure it's not a great sign and shows a certain lack of self control that means he will never be a Gareth Ellis. However you don't need that to play a part in the rebirth of WTRLFC.

So he drinks a bit, he's a bit of a wally, he's not reached his potential HE'S 24!!! how many people at 24 were doing much better than that. It's about 25 when most blokes wake up one morning and realise they need to get it together, why is this boy any difference.
If we sign him give him a chance - for a prop he is a kid, if he fails we get rid - he's not a dog he isn't signed for life!
Can I just add that the following players all arrived with a similar wrap from the know all finger wagging brigade...
Richard Moore Danny Brough Oliver Wilkes Tevita Latu
or at other clubs
Shaun Long Leon Pryce Gareth Hock Martim Gleeson
all monumental kn*bbers but decent players in the end.

Has looked good when i have seen him on telly this year although that was in the Championship. Just need to stop him knocking around with Jamie Thackray! As said above, at 25, you just hope he has got his silly years out of his system!
Someone else of a similar age, position, guesstimated salary etc would be Andy Bracek who out of the 2 i would probably prefer.
If we are signing him as a regular starter then i would be concerned, as a squad member who could push for a starting jersey, then why not?
If as SBK says Dowes, Amor, Tongia and James sign swell as cockayne. We are sorted for everywhere but that quality halfback. There really will be only loose to fill but so far trout and Masselot will be fighting it out for the spot.
Worth a punt for me, young and british so happy if he comes.
We put this festival on you ba****ds With whole lotta love We worked for one year for you pigs And you wanna break our walls down And you wanna destroy Well you go to hell

He is a failure and an absolute mess, bombed out of bulls, epic failure at quins and hadn't got what it takes, the only thing he Is good at is hitting the bottle with Jamie thackray! He hasn't got one ounce of dedication in him he is arrogant and full of bad bitter attitude. Watch this space wakey.....If you have signed him you will see why he was playing for barrow!!!!!
