A stuttering career so far ,never really hit those heights he was projected to do when he burst onto the scene , injuries have blighted and curtailed his once promising career up to press . Big risk for me taking a far from robust half ,albeit a skilled one on his day ,although Powell knows this and if willing to take the risk ,who am I to complain .

Definitely an element of risk. If he can get past the injuries then I definitely feel there’s a very good half there. Hopefully a pre season with a top back room staff will get him in a good place.

I remember having thoughts on Lomax at saints who earlier on in his career was very unlucky with injuries, there was a period where he went 4 or 5 seasons getting injury after injury and it just looked like he was destined to be a talent that would never fulfill his potential then out of nowhere he kicked on and now he's probably one of the most durable halfbacks in the game.
It's not a comparison at all, more how funny the game can be, it's probably down to bad luck than anything else. Trueman is quality, in fact when you consider how much time he's had to spend on the sidelines, in the development stages of his career, it's miraculous how good he looks in that role.
He has signed anyway apparently so fingers crossed he can stay fit.

Can Teueman regai his firm though, was deventer last year, but apart from one gane has bee n very poor, I know we have been rubbish, but we have still had individual players perform, both Reynolds (championship standard) and Charles (18 years old) have been better than him. Has pretty much no pave or running gane, kicking been awful, best past of his game has been his defence.
Think he needs a fresh start, hopefully his injury isn't too bad and he gets a full preseason and regain some form, too much of an expensive risk to keep at Hull.

Let's be honest Dave, there are very few players that have gone to Hull FC over the last few years and performed well consistently, infact it's quite the opposite, you've taken what on the face it of it are brilliant players or players with lots of potential and turned them into rubbish ones... Although I think you may have turned a corner bringing Cartwright in and seem to have a few good young players with lots of potential, particularly the young fullback, half and hooker you have coming through.

According to this poster all players leaving Hull are poor. Totally ignoring what toxic wasteland Hull FC have become in the last ten years.
I would take almost any player from Hull based on the theory that they can't get any worse than Hull have made them. For most including Trueman, the only way is up.
Dave,as regards your post on Trueman it's pretty much how I've seen him play on tv and agree entirely. I don't think there is any doubting that he was an exceptional player at Cas and DP must be confident that he can get back to that kind of form.If he's in then he will get my full backing.
Can we afford a half that is resurrecting his career ,time will tell and that one, but we need to hit the ground running as Leigh did ,and to that end they got in a world class half who bossed the game from the off ,not a lad finding his feet after numerous setbacks . I hope he rekindles his game that the pundits used rave about as an England half in the making ,because there will be no where to hide ones that whistle blows in our first game back in the big time .
