Finn was not poor today he was downright embarrassing. He has been good but time has caught up with him and he should retire.

Another thing that mystifies me is that when Woody is on the pitch we look much sharper and yet He now only seems to get about 20 minutes. He was doing 80 minutes all last season and looked great.

I thought Miller was also poor and I wonder if working alongside Finn affected his game.

If Chester picks Finn next week after that then I think he has lost the plot.

I thought Catalans speed and physicality was constant throughout the game and we simply couldn't handle them. At times they reminded me of the Kumuls the way they ran at our line. I thought we'd win so am disappointed but have to say that try from TJ was memorable and one I'll never forget.

I thought Bird was the difference for them today. He didn't do a lot but when he did it was always effective.

I thought Horo and Fifita played well. I thought Miller tried hard along with Wood, making a few breaks. I thought Hampshire was good. Wish he's kicked on the breakaway rather than trying the long pass.
Many of the others were poor. BJB wasn't bad but needed to execute his chances better. TJ could have taken the outside a number of times but didn't seem to have the confidence and let a kick roll past him on their try line.
The other forwards didn't seem nearly as effective as Catalan. As said passible our distribution but the same applied in defence so not all that.

Anyway we have to move on. Beating Leeds is the objective now. That is now a Bojo must win.

He has had a sickness bug all week and not trained. So I'll give him a bit of slack for his poor performance.

However playing him when the coaching staff were aware turned out to be another bad decision it seems.

captaincaveman wrote:I dont mind that Finn is not as quick as he once was, but today he looked completely dis interested in the game, Just catching the ball and passing it on. The reason Catalans forwards looked so much better than ours was because of where they received the ball. Ie. Right at the defensive line and at pace. Compare that to where our forwards received it ie. stood still and a good 5 yards from the defensive line. Plenty of time for the defence to organise the tackle.
We badly need a number 7 if we are to go forward as a team. Similar to what Cas did a couple of seasons ago. Finn steadied the ship there but to go up a level they had to replace him, and i think that is exactly where we are now.
Really like Hampshire at FB but dont know where we are on his contract?
Is Grix due back anytime soon?

That's all he did against Saints but he was given praise. Although tbh he did kick a little better against St Helens than he has the rest of the season.

Big mistake bringing Finn back.
Way too slow now.
When Wood was on he was acting half back and Finn was just a spare part.
We had just started to give the Miller & Hampshire partnership a chance to blossom at half back and allow Jowitt to regain his confidence at half back.
Hampshire despite good performances at full back is not big enough to demote Jowitt to allow Finn to derail the season by endangering our quest for the Super 8's.
Hope Chris Chester learns from a harsh lesson tonight and sticks with Jowitt, Miller & Hampshire at 1, 6 & 7 for the remaining games.

Very poor with the ball today, attack very clunky indeed. As has already been said, Hirst and Finn worst of a bad bunch. Big raps to the young French kids in the Northstand - made a hell of a noise.

The least bad team didn't lose.

Finn is done, I think today will be the day that Chester finally realises that. We are targeting an Aussie halfback to replace him.
