If we use him right I’m sure he will be an asset.

Doesn’t look capable of big minutes and doesn’t look the most mobile but those are things that can be worked on.

Short impact spells to change the game up look to be his thing.

If we are hoping for 60 minute stints then it looks like he will be waisted.

Some of the criticism I’ve seen of him is shared with the criticism him brother also gets. Low work rate and got a few brain farts in him.

If he comes with the right attitude and we utilise him to his strengths could be a useful and entertaining pick up.

Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

Of course it’s a different team. We’ve gone through a very large squad rebuild. Give me a prop that works hard and gets the front foot than a steady Eddie any day. In reality though a team needs both and a mixture of different types of props.

If we had a full front row of workmanlike solid props without the impact/post contact ability or offload ability the team would struggle to dominate or trouble teams. Uele appears to have the post contact difficult to put down Fifita style. Bain appears to be workmanlike but has an offloading game. Bowden is your solid technical prop to his his front and gain a quick play but not rack up the meters.

Prima Donna is not the right word as Dave was a very infect

From what I've seen and heard since we signed him, I wonder if he could be our Patrick Mago equivalent ??

Trin e ti wrote:My point is that he would have been our top earner and as such expect him to win more tight games than we did and him to make a difference. Yes he was a showman and a good player but not good enough to keep us higher in the league. If you have God status as appears to have then you have to win 4 or 5 tight game's by your bit of genius SPoke to ex players about this who are of the same opinion. Great guy , showman yes , decent player yes , but sorry not god.

Not sure why you need to say explayers agree with you. We could just say the same.
The only evidence I have, is the numerous times he has pushed the team on when no-one else could do it.
We even had people complaining that our only tactic was to give it to Fifita, because he might make something happen from nothing.

The fact that, even at our lowest point, when nothing else worked, bringing him back after retiring from professional rugby, he was still our best metre gainer by far, and top tackler for the 'middles'.
He inspired players that seemingly couldn't be inspired.

And when he left, and we tried to use that money to buy those players you think we should have bought instead, it clearly didn't work.

The fact you can't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It just means you can't see it.

If we want to talk about Fifita from now on, let's do it on a new thread. Happy to contribute.

This one is for Uele.

Yes he was a showman and had some good games but he also had plenty or bad ones and gave away a lot of penalties. I personally think he was part of our problem in that we probably could have at 2 or 3 good forwards for the amount he was on.and made us a better team

We'll just agree to disagree. Also like you, I know quite a few players that I've spoken to about him and their opinion seems a million miles away from yours. You can also add what the club and coaches thought about Dave as well. As for fitness, it was never a problem while over here, in fact, I've never seen a bloke as big as him play 80 minutes as he did a few years back against Cas I think it was. His fitness improved massively while in the SL, compared to his fitness in the NRL, he's even spoken about it in interviews over the years. If he was anything as you suggest him to be like, do you think the club under a different coach would have asked him to unretire and leave his family with a newborn on the way to return to keep us up?
Penalties you bring up, well in his last 4 years full seasons he was here, he gave 17, 22, injured in 2020, 14, and then 15 penalties, generally well below other top props forwards in the comp, or a similar amount as say, Walmsley and less than Watts.
There are his errors per season, just in case you accused him of making loads of errors as well.
2017 - 16
2018 - 8
2019 - 7
2020 - played just 9 games due to injury.
2021 - 12
2022 - 14

I never said he was not fit enough for sl , in original post I said he was not fit enough for nrl so he came to us. Where have we actually finished in the league in all those seasons. You can throw all the statistics you want but the point is that the real top earner must provide that bit extra to win tight games and he has not done that enough. I would also like to see number of games we have won when he has played and when he has not each season if you are thr stats man

Whilst I will be the minority personally think it is a team game and believe we would have been spending his big wage over few players. In reality Whilst he has been here we have always been struggling with relegation so it was not that he had us in the play offs.

Not true at all, before he turned up in 2016 along with Chester we went to the CC semi, and then in his next 2 seasons after we finished in the top 5 either in the regular season or in the Super 8's, and if not for a cock up by Scott Grix against Saints we'd have been in the top 3 potentially playing for the GF. It was only when we started to get injuries to all our best players like Johnstone, Tuopu, Fifita, Arona, and Lyne that things really started to go downhill in 2020.

Why don't you go do your own research pal, some are easy to find others like those you're asking for would take ages to work out, if anybody could even be bothered to do it all. Won't make any difference to you anyway, you lack subjectivity. :SLEEPY:
