Daft as it sounds we've nothing to lose against Wigan, so no nerves. Likewise professional though Wigan are at present they are not the team of the early 90's, and even they had lapses. Best will in the world when you play a team that's just been royally stuffed there is a tendency to be complacent.
Toulouse on the other hand will be totally geared up, if we don't win against Wigan we will be as nervy as hell and could easily blow it. Especially as the crowd will undoubtedly back Toulouse. To me winning against Wigan is every bit as valuable as beating Toulouse as IMO one leads to the other.
I don't believe you can coast a RL game, nor do I believe taking it easy stops injuries or fatigue. I'd rather our key players go to Magic with a rousing effort against Wigan, win or lose in their minds than spend this weekend skulking on the side lines.
Every win is extremely valuable I agree with that but I just feel it will take a big effort to push Wigan and I worry if we do what we will have in the tank for the Toulouse game which really is our cup final.
Toulouse have KR at home they will be looking to win that I expect. Huge shot in the arm for us if they don’t, as every week they don’t win the challenge for them gets significantly harder.
I’m not saying wave the white flag vs Wigan but we on my opinion have to be approaching the Toulouse game as if it is a final and you only need to see how teams tend to deliberately rotate squads before the Challenge Cup to keep their best players fresh.
