I wasnt there so I didn't know. I'm confused as I thought BJB started but went off or am I wrong there. If that's the case and he didn't play in the centres then I'm afraid Ill have to retract my original post. Ripping it up in the reserves is one thing but he'd have to have played first team for me to justify my optimistic first post.

Oh the pain.

Regardless, I actually agree with your opening post. Johnstone has pace to burn, but he needs a centre who will put him in the space. Hall has the brains and ability to do that, but the defensive aspect would frighten me. We'd need a couple of tough tackling forwards out wide to help protect them, but imagine the impact they could have as the grounds get harder.

Yeah, BJB didn't make the starting line, so there were some very, very late changes to the starting 13 and Hall played the full game at FB.
He had a decent game, although he may have been culpable for a couple of their scores.
Equally, he had some decent moments and Hall has good hand and decent feet and hopefully he will have a decent part to play in the team as the season progresses.

Don't know how serious the injury is to BJB ??

Smith said he just felt tightness in his quad so decided it was better to replace than lose him in the game and then for games after too.

With treatment he'll probably be ok.
Question is does Smith now think it's better to keep Walton and Hall or retry Hall at centre and bring BJB back.

Tom said to me straight after the game that he should've backed himself but I thought he was being hard on himself, two players were coming across to him and with 20 secs to go I believe he made the right choice. His last two games have seen a massive improvement in his overall game play. Long may it continue.

For me I'd have johnstone and BJB on the wings with Hall at fullback. Walton, Tupou and Lyne to fight it out for the centre spots. I think we need Hall and BJB on the pitch at the same time but I think they're both more dangerous in attack in the positions I've put them in. Like someone said, Hall at centre is probably going to weaken the defence on the flanks and he's probably more dangerous in attack from fullback. I think it's no coincidence that Hall has come in and we've looked miles more dangerous in attack.

I like Lyne on the wing more than centre. He isn't a passer.
I didn't vote for Hall in the centre but Smith wanted to try him so he should get his shot before switching him around.

But once again he was at fault for Warringtons first try by (you guessed it) coming in off his wing to make a tackle that his centre had covered.

I like Lyne more on the wing too but in order to accommodate all three I would shift him to the centre as I still feel this is our strongest backs lineup.

Hall has shown in one game that he is a better fullback then BJB. Why change Hall for the next game after having a good game? Backs I would have is:

fb: Hall
W: Johnstone
C: Tupou
C: Lyne/Walton
W: BJB

Arundel doesn't offer anything in attack although solid in defence.
