don't shoot me down but my little un is a bit dissapointed in there being no rugby camp this easter, him and 2 of his mates were looking forward to it..only the girls get a rugby camp, lads get a "sport camp"! last years summer camp got my little un in to playing rl which he now loves..he wanted to attend the rugby camp as well as a football skills camp, now it looks like he'll be doing 2 weeks footy.
does anyone else think that there should have been a least 1 weeks boys rugby ?
The multi sport camp will involve around 50% rugby and the rest made up of football, Dodgeball, cricket etc. We are trying to be more inclusive which is what our funding requires us to be.
The camps will be very similar to what we have delivered in the past and the reason behind the second week is that we are piloting a girls rugby camp so all the coaches will be required on that.
Dance is massive at the moment with over 150 girls performing weekly at the Wildcat Dolls Dance Academy. The Wildcats has the biggest dance programme in Super League and we are the model that all clubs are aspiring to be like. Rugby League is paramount at the club but please support the community team when we try to do something new or think outside the box.

so lets not bother with the boys then !!!! let the girls dance !!! i had 4 kids all wanting to do the 4 day rugby camp like in summer and now none want to go..my son loves rugby and football and wanted to do 4 days rugby and the following week a 4 day intensive football skills course which he will still do..SADLY HE NOW DOES NOT WANT TO DO THE "SPORTS COURSE"! to me it is a shame that you are now potentially losing BOYS from playing R.L !
i can undersdtand that you need to be more inclusive in other areas but why not do that in smaller holidays or weekends... to me this is more POLITICALLY CORRECT than anything else!
I can understand your concerns but we are a community (Club For All) department not a Rugby League Development Department. Last year we received similar feedback from people who did not want to play just rugby but would like to see multi sport included. The trusts remit is to improve opportunities for young people in the district. I look at it this way which as already happened at previous camps, if we attract a footballer to a multi sport camp and he likes rugby league he may just join a junior rugby team.
I explained in my previous post that normally we have done a rugby camp on the second week but we are piloting the girls rugby camp which requires all coaches to be present.
The camps will now be running throughout the year and May will see a rugby camp but like i said on previous camps we have done football and rounders etc and same will done at easter so BOOK them on and see how it goes, if not May or Summer camps will see Rugby Camps

Its seems like a case of trying to please everyone, time will tell and if the events are well attended you have got it right, they only way to find out is to TRY.
A large part of the clubs future is in your hands and i for one trust you to get it right or at least give it your best shot. Good luck.
