What are anyone else's views on this player. We have signed him for 2 years yet I've only seen him have maybe a couple of just above average games since arriving. I know the team were poor on Sunday but when he found himself in a clear space he stopped running came inside and went to ground. Surely a good winger sprints as soon as he sees a gap. Every game I've seen him play he always wants to come inside and never take players on the outside. Vinny Finigan must have been upset after a man of the match performance against Toronto with trys and strong carries to find he has been dropped. I like Craig Lingard as a coach and speaks a lot of sense but this has got me scratching my head on the 2 year deal and bringing him in instead of Finigan.
Jury still out for me to be honest on Dixon. I believe hes young and hopefully one for the future. My issue with Finigan is with his defence. He often makes the wrong call coming inside and leaving his winger unmarked to score. I agree with ball in hand he is very dangerous.
He's young, can cover multiple positions if needed and seems to have a very good attitude from what I've seen so signing him up is a good move. Having said that, I wouldn't want him to be in our strongest 13 next year. It's no secret that our right edge is significantly weaker than our left so I'd like to see a new winger brought in who is an upgrade on what we currently have to address the balance.
Prefer to discuss the squad as a whole. Would be great to see a published league table of every Cougar player in order of their time for an 80 metre sprint.
Any young winger needs to be encouraged to go for it on the outside. But needs coaching staff to get over the hurdle of assuring there won't be a rollicking for getting tackled into touch.
