Just a reminder that the reserves are back in action tomorrow night Thursday taking on a BARLA Select side in a friendly game , kick off 7.30pm at Cougar Park. The BARLA team is drawn from the Community Clubs and will act as a trial game for players wanting to gain selection for the upcoming tour to South Africa. Also on the reserves ,they have another International in their ranks , following on from Charlie Ecclestone's England Student Selection last year , Steady (Ben ) is part of this Years England Student Squad , representing his University Leeds Trinity . He and former Cougar U20 squad member Matt Ross (now at Nottingham Uni) , have their first rep game this afternoon taking on the British Army at Nottingham . The team will then play in the Associations Cup against a Combined Armed Forces Side , GB Teachers and GB Police teams , before competing at the Student 4 Nations in the Republic of Ireland in June . |

A very exciting "game of two halves". Cougars dominated the first, BARLA found their feet and mounted a revival in the second. We left with about 5 mins left with Keighley in the lead by I think 35: 16 ish. But BARLA were on the attack and looking dangerous. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't score a couple before the end. Keighley were hampered by the loss of Ross Peltier early in the game (ankle?) who had been producing his usual barnstorming runs. They felt this in the second half and the forwards looked to be tiring a little due to the extra work. We also lost our fullback to injury mid way through the second. Yet another reserve game that was well worth watching. I would imagine that with more game time together BARLA will improve and be a tight unit. |

Quote:Keighley were hampered by the loss of Ross Peltier early in the game (ankle?) That doesn't sound good, any news? |

Don't know the verdict on Ross, had to leave early so didn't go into the bar for the "gossip". Perhaps Rach can tell us. Oh, and the final score was 32:16, I don't know where I got 35 from |

Dead leg apparently for Ross according to Marchy this morning - he came back out from the dressing room onto the bench with his thigh iced up and heavily strapped , Scott Lee and Martyn Broadley also came off after taking heavy knocks. In Hello Troubles absence last night I was chief scribbler , I'm half way through the match report and will post as soon as I've finished . |
